Will probably ramble quite a bit here.
I don't know much about Meacham, but I can still see Gundy's fingerprints all over this offense. Maybe Meach and Mike think alike or maybe it was a condition of him getting hired. I don't know but at this point I'm sick of it. "We have to establish the run, we have to establish the run, we have to establish the run, we have to establish the run...etc." Well, whatever it is you are doing does not seem capable of establishing the run, so if that means you can't open the playbook then you better think of some other way to do it. Maybe it's the RPO that makes it harder for the O-line to run block for fear of getting too far down field. Maybe it's bad schemes, maybe it's bad personnel, maybe it's bad coaching, maybe our Assistant Athletic Director for Strength and Conditioning isn't as good as we have been told all these years.
I can still remember the comments from the South Alabama defensive players after they beat us a few years back and I was so mad that I was ready for Gundy to be fired over that (also over his crazy idea of playing 3 QB's). Then the team managed to put together a successful season and quiet the criticism....but even then, there were warning signs that all was not right (UCF for example), and we just didn't pay attention. "Our (his) offense" is stale and predictable and should have been thrown out years ago. Heck at this point, I'd rather see us bring in a triple option guy than have one more season of "our (his) offense".
And yes, our defense may be a bigger concern than the offense, it's really bad....but here's the thing, we have had success before with a bad defense and just outscoring opponents. I can accept the fact that we are never going to have enough NIL to be great on both sides of the ball, so we need to pick one side and put most of the money there.
