The Joe Kent (now former counterterrorism Director) resignation letter is a must read

Smartly written, but I doubt Trump will ever admit he was fooled by a disinformation campaign. There are so many of these kinds of inflection points that would be watershed moments in any other administration. Trump seems immune to them. Unless Trump is already looking for an exit ramp, he’ll ignore this and the majority of his base will support his decision. There have been cracks in that base, which I hope he has noticed and will give him reason to reconsider a prolonged campaign.

Former US Army general hits out at Donald Trump's 'repulsive' comments about America's allies

Lieutenant General Hodges, the former commander of the US Army in Europe, told Radio 4′s Today program: “This is embarrassing for me as an American to hear any American president showing such disdain for any ally, and we are going to regret in the long run as ... nations lose confidence in us, lose trust in us and start finding other ways to look after their strategic interests.”

Lt Gen Hodges said: “Many of the problems that we’re having in the United States right now are because the president has gotten rid of the normal national security staff and he’s put in place people who are sycophants.

“Any leader worth his or her salt depends on a team, so I find this repulsive to say the prime minister or the German chancellor or the president of any other country doesn’t need to speak to his or her team.”

Of course, Trump won’t admit anything.

OJ didn’t admit anything either.

Mike Johnson: "We all understood there was clearly an imminent threat that Iran was very close to the enrichment of nuclear capability ... I don't know where Joe Kent is getting his information ... the president felt he had to strike first to prevent mass casualties"

Trump on the resignation of National COUNTERTERRORISM Center director Joe Kent:

‘I always thought he was WEAK ON SECURITY’

‘When I read his statement, I realized that it’s a GOOD THING THAT HE’S OUT’

And in February 2025

I'm more fearful of Israel launching a nuke against Iran. I thought Trump claimed he obliterated Iran's nuclear advancements with big bombs where they were last June. Okay, that could be Trump's exit strategy. He should announce he's bombing sites like never before where Iran has been working on nukes and then withdraw from the war.

"Then the war started. Insurers don’t need anyone’s permission to raise rates; the listing just triggers the notification requirement. When Iran began actively attacking ships, laying mines, and declaring the Strait closed, underwriters recalculated. The Additional Premium surged from 0.15% to 3% of hull value. A 12 to 20x increase, overnight.

That same $250 million tanker that paid $375,000 to $625,000 per transit last year? Now it faces $7.5 million. If the insurer will quote at all. Many simply won’t. They decline coverage for a Hormuz transit under current conditions, which means the ship cannot legally sail.

This is the “spreadsheet blockade.” You don’t need to sink a tanker to stop it. You just need to make the insurance math impossible."
