Middle East

There’s so many commonly used phrases with a problematic past. In fact, the past is and always will be problematic.

“It was a cakewalk” has slavery origins.

“No can do” originated to demean Chinese railroad workers.

There’s so many more that everyone in here uses every day.

I don’t know I guess I find it weird to pick and choose. Is it because this one has the word cotton in it? It’s a little too on the nose?

I looked those up and yeah those are cringe. When Im old enough where the kids are making ok xennial memes Im just going to pretend to be mute or something because Im not gonna get canceled over blurting out that's what she said when the kids are having a conversation on the future internet over implied consent.

Are we sure that it was our bomb (or an Israeli one) that did it? No matter who fired it, this was a terrible tragedy.
No confirmation…not gonna believe anything without visual evidence though…MN murders sealed that one for me… regardless it happened cuz we decided to save people from bloodshed??…how f$&king ironic…

Yeah. What I read was that it may have been a misfire from Iran but I wouldn't put it past them for it to be intentional to generate international sympathy. I also wouldn't put it past us (or more likely Israel) firing internationally to generate fear in their population. Definite ESH situation but that is common in war.

if only they would have given tRump the nobel...he would´ve been giddy and not lashing out like a fourth grade tantrum...

I won't be surprised if the war is over with against Iran with regime change made in less than 2 weeks as good as things are going.
Unfortunately, Trump said the war could last 4 weeks. I doubt China and other countries who get some of their oil from Iran like the sound of that. But maybe Iran will let oil tankers through for non-enemies, like China. It will be interesting to see if the price of oil goes up over $100 soon.

People in Iran are going to die in Iran. Accept that as fact.

Do you want it surgical or do you want American boots on the ground?

I think Trump is garbage, but removing the Ayatollah, literally the Godfather of Hamas, Hezbelloah, the Yemen crisis and Sudanese crisis is a good thing.

Israel needs to be kept on a leash, and this is coming from someone who is ethnically Jewish.

Trump is also doing this to distract from Epstein (similar to ICE), but the vast majority of the 90 million people in Iran are about to throw a fucking party. Not everyone is going to agree.

Donald Trump is still garbage and a broken clock is right twice a day.
A broken clock also screws up more often than it gets it right and can start a massive war that does require boots on the ground.

This guy may know a little more about this than us, or any of the fools running our current government.

20 year old me wouldn't have made the connection. 45 year old me doesn't see it as that problematic but wouldn't say it regardless of the current conversation just to be safe. Im also a straight white middle class guy so anything related to race, gender, or sexual orientation I try and stay in my lane. But I also think if problematic things are said without malice it's ok to have a conversation about them without condemning the person who made the comments (not saying you are here, just in general). For most of us what was considered socially acceptable at one point in our lives may no longer be so and not everyone adapts at the same pace.
That is fair and it is why I didn't bring a bunch of heat about it, just pointed it out.

When has a bombing campaign led to political change in a country? It won't happen without boots on the ground which mean tens if not hundreds of thousands of Iranian deaths and american casualties too.

The naivete this post has after living through Iraq and Afghanistan is pretty stunning, IMO. Who is in charge in Afghanistan again? Who was in charge before 2003?

I think at least phasing out the more egregious ones are probably a good idea, no?
