Kanion Williams Comments

many outsiders on the internet have commented that OSU fans have a problem by worshiping Gundy and they are right i think the sports animal continues to make excuses and the sunshine pumpers have unrealistically made Gundy God and yes we can do better we have other alumni that could probably coach. just as good as Mike if people can take the Suttons off a pedestal or Gary Ward then they should be able to do the same with Gundy.

Unfortunately Coach Sutton committed a crime and was ARRESTED FOR DUI/DWI, THERE IS YOUR CAUSE RIGHT THERE!!! 🤔

It's a repeat of the same types of comments that former players were saying. I could see a for cause if racism is proven considering it was previously addressed.
I am going to address this once for the dense that have trouble understanding or watch to much mainstream media.

Supporting OAN or a conservative slant news is not racism. Calling players racial slurs is entirely different and yes this definitely would meet cause for firing.

Weird timing, but Williams, former OSU special teams player who transferred to Tulsa, said Gundy called him a ghetto rat.

Also said Dunn was the reason many transferred

I'm a certified Gundy hater, and maybe I'm being naive, but I really can't imagine Gundy being dumb enough to express racism or hatefulness directly to a player in the middle of the weight room for seemingly no reason. Something seems off about that.

It seems more plausible that he thought it was a funny thing to say, and is just out of touch enough to not realize it would be offensive to that player in that context. Sounds like he didn't have the equity to use that term with Kanion Williams. Maybe he overheard someone else call him that, and thought he could also use that nickname? Maybe a coach called him that in another context?

Maybe Gundy thought he was being witty, maybe he thought he was being cool, maybe he doesn't have a good frontal lobe filter.....

If this was something that happened around that time and the university wad aware of it, it's hard to justify cause. Any decent lawyer would ask why we didn't act then (when we were winning) but waited until now to claim cause.

If the behavior happened after the OAN incident, then it's a whole different story. You flirt with that boundary and get called out on it, then jump wayyyyy over that boundary-you get what you get.

All that being said, I believe what Williams said, but it's too soon to jump to conclusions about the timing and context of the comments.

I think that may be the case, but that excuse doesn't fly in this world. Just look at what happend to Cale in Norman.
