Israel under attack

At some point someone has to stand up and say enough voilence. That what I would hope the Israelis would do but based on thier actions and the thoughts displayed in this thread I’m pretty sure they think they are the ones to do that. And on the other side it’s pretty clear Hamas doesn’t either. At this point im a little suprised a nuke hasn’t been used. Although with Jerusalem bing there that would probably have most of the world turn against who ever used a nuke near such a holy site. Revenge is a crappy thing to want ultimately. But it’s a hard thing to get past. What we have are two sides continuously trying to get revenge(and yes the first Hamas attack at the beginning of the month was based in revenge). It won’t end until someone stands up and truly tries to stop the violence. I have very little hope either side will end up being the bigger group. All I see is two groups hell bent on exterminating the other side.
You could have stopped at your first sentence. It would be nice and it is something that we should all be praying for but it ain't gonna happen. Israel isn't going to pop off a nuke in their own backyard and, as far as I know, the Palestinians don't have one. Sadly, I have come to the conclusion that the only way this is ever going to be resolved is with violence. Lots of it... and it's going to be brutal and gut wrenching and we are going to be drawn into it even more than we already are.

There are only 2 countries ever confirmed to have designed and built Suit Case Nukes, but they were never declassified. That is the USSR and the US...back in the 50's and 60's. Nukes that were so small they could fit inside of a back pack and be carried by an individual soldier.

However, there were leaks and claims in the late 1990's that in the late 70's that the US had either helped or given Israel this suit case Nuke Tech.

These were designed to have a 2 kiloton or less yield and were designed so they would have enough power to take out ~an entire City Block or sky scraper equivalent to ~ 1000 tons of TNT

The US Never tested theirs officially but reportedly had a bomb that was only 4.2" in Diameter and the entire contraption weighed just 40lbs. The US eventually made the development or production of any nuke under 5 Kilo Tons Illegal in 1994, However, the law making them illegal was overturned in the National Defense Act passed by Congress in 2004..so the development and production of them is once again legal in the US.

Hundreds arrested at Jewish US Capitol rally demanding Israeli ceasefire in Gaza Times of Israel

Organizers claim the protest by pro-Palestinian groups IfNotNow and Jewish Voice for Peace drew 10,000; speakers included far-left Congress members Rashida Tlaib and Cori Bush

JTA — At least 300 people were arrested on Wednesday at a Jewish-led rally in the US Capitol calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and condemning Israel for a “potential genocide” of the territory.

The rally was organized by Jewish Voice for Peace and IfNotNow, two Jewish groups that have focused their criticism on Israel and accused it of genocide and other human rights violations since Hamas breached the border with Israel and embarked on a bloody massacre on October 7, killing 1,400, wounding thousands and taking some 200 people captive. Israel has since declared war on Hamas, killing 3,200 in airstrikes on Gaza and wounding thousands.

The Washington rally, which organizers said drew a total of 10,000 people inside and outside the Capitol, came on the same day that US President Joe Biden visited Israel in a show of support and negotiated humanitarian aid for Gaza civilians. Israel has called up hundreds of thousands of military reservists and is expected to launch a ground invasion of the Gaza Strip shortly.

“We shut down congress to draw mass attention to the U.S. complicity in Israel’s ongoing oppression of Palestinians,” JVP posted on X. “Just as we demand an end to genocide in Gaza, we must put the same effort into dismantling the systems of Zionism, apartheid, and colonialism that brought us to this moment.”

Rep. Rashida Tlaib, who advocates for a boycott of Israel, spoke to the crowd outside the Capitol. During her comments, Tlaib, who is Palestinian-American, cried when charging that “people think it’s OK to bomb a hospital.” It was an apparent allusion to an explosion at a Gaza hospital that Biden said he was convinced was caused by a Palestinian rocket misfire, backing up an Israeli assessment.

Rep. Cori Bush of Missouri also spoke at the rally, and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts posted on X supporting it. Both are progressive Democrats allied with Tlaib.

The rally follows a smaller one on Monday in Washington, sponsored by the same groups, where protesters were also arrested for blocking the entrances to the White House. The rallies come amid a string of pro-Israel rallies in cities across the country that have collectively drawn tens of thousands of supporters. Miriam Weisel, the regional director of the Anti-Defamation League in Washington, said in a statement that “these far-left radical organizations do not represent the overwhelming majority of the Jewish community.”

Protesters, sitting on the floor, crowded the Capitol Rotunda, chanting “ceasefire now” and “not in our name,” and singing a famous Biblical verse that begins “Nation shall not lift up sword against nation.” The protest was infused with Jewish ritual — a hallmark of protests by IfNotNow, which was founded in 2014 to oppose Israel’s conduct during that year’s Gaza War and which frequently partners with JVP, an anti-Zionist group.

Protesters wore prayer shawls and at least one brought a shofar. One speaker, leading a call-and-response with the crowd, recited a traditional Jewish message to mourners, inserting “Al-Quds,” the Arabic name for Jerusalem, before the Hebrew name for the city, Yerushalayim. IfNotNow protests have featured recitations of the Mourner’s Kaddish, said on behalf of Israeli and Palestinian victims.

The arrests occurred because protests are not allowed in the Capitol, according to CBS.

'It's unbearable, it's unliveable', says Gaza father

Ayman Mghames, 38, along with his wife and two young children, left their home in the north when the conflict began, taking shelter with a friend in Nuseirat in central Gaza.
He says his home in al-Mukhabarat in northwest Gaza city has been “completely demolished, levelled to the ground” and every day is a struggle to find food and clean water.
“It’s unbearable, it’s unliveable. The situation is really hard," he says.
But today he’s got something happy to focus on.
“My wife is brilliant. We found out yesterday that she is pregnant and we hope that we will manage. I hope this can be the sign of a better future…I hope.”
In the house where they’ve moved there are about 70 other people, mainly women and children.
“We are all working together as a team. Some for the bread, some for the water, some for the generator, some for the fuel, some for the electricity.”
At night, Ayman’s children are often woken up by the sound of explosions.
He says last night was “very terrible” with “missiles and explosions all night long”.

this is why they told them to evacuate and leave

They released the US Prisoners to "PROVE" the Fascist Biden Regime is lying about them and Hamas did NOT release them voluntarily. The Qatar Govt had to convince them to do it ..then the released a statement degrading the US and to prove the US was lying about them as the Reason they did it...they did it for sympathy, not trying to end anything or to de-escalate anything. They are trying to ESCALATE the tensions, with this hostage release.

Fox News has independently confirmed that two American nationals held captive by Hamas have been released.

"In response to Qatari efforts, Al-Qassam Brigades released two American citizens (a mother and her daughter) for humanitarian reasons, and to prove to the American people and the world that the claims made by Biden and his fascist administration are false and baseless," Al-Qassam Brigades spokesman Abu Obaida said Friday.

A source tells Fox News the hostages are now in the care of the Red Cross.

U.S. officials say 32 Americans have been killed since Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel on October 7, brutally murdering as many as 1,400 Israelis. Israel has confirmed at least 203 Israelis are being held captive by Hamas in the Gaza Strip. At least 11 Americans were unaccounted for as of Friday morning.

President Biden has said securing the safe release of American hostages is a top priority of the U.S. government.

"To those who are living in limbo, waiting desperately to learn the fate of a loved one, especially to families of the hostages – You're not alone. We're working with partners throughout the region, pursuing every avenue to bring home those who are being held captive by Hamas," Biden said in remarks from Israel earlier this week.

and it's just that easy...u r ignorant...do you realize how difficult that task was?!...oh wait, you're just that closed minded...
no one said it was easy, no one said it would be possible, no one said it would be safe passage, but they were warned and told to leave

1 Million smart Gaza residents picked up their stuff and Left...was it easy for them to do ? No but they followed the order to evacuate and are alive today because they headed the warning.

~1 million Didn't leave and decided to use UN run Schools or Family houses instead of leaving the country and thus ignoring the evacuation order.

If 1 million have already done it...the 2nd million could too. They chose NOT too and chose to stay. There are consequences to that action as they were told there would be.

This is the equivalent to

If a tornado siren goes off and you see an F5 coming and decide you want to ride it out on your Trailers Front Porch.....then by all means go ahead..but you are putting your own life and the lives of all your family by staying there in the path of that storm

yep, you just proved it...you are ignorant...it's not your fault; wait, yes it is, because you don't do any research on this, you just read or heard something to the effect of what you just typed and took it as truth...
that is the equivalent to
you are walking down the sidewalk and a random person tells you that Jesus is coming back today at 4pm, and you believe it and start telling all of your friends

People in Gaza have had 5 DAYS to move 10.5 MILES (which it is only 10.5 Miles if they are at the FURTHEST possible point to evacuate from) It takes a total of 4 HOURS on Foot to do the entire Thing from the most extreme location 10.5 miles away.

They can't travel 10.5 miles in 5 DAYS????....they can't make a 4 hour walking trip in 5 DAYs....and lets be VERY clear....90%+ being evacuated are CLOSER than the 10.5 mile distance.

Come on. Open you eyes and quit falling for the Propaganda. They weren't asked to take up the Bhutan Death March here.

Some of you are so ingrained with bad information you don't even understand that Israel isn't asking them to even leave GAZA!! they are just asking them to leave PART of GAZA. The Gaza strip is 25 miles long. They are Only ordering the evacuation of 10.5 miles of it...so Roughly HALF..... They aren't asking them to leave the country etc. Come on

if your choice was to walk 10.5 miles or 4 hours to save your family from Death and Destruction and you REFUSE to do that. Then you WANT TO BE THERE

Just watched a live interview with an expert in the ME about the conflict.

He spoke A LOT about disinformation and misinformation and the problems it is having getting better resolution to the conflict.
* Misinformation that Iran had anything directly to do with the Hamas attack. He said both US and Israeli intelligence knew almost immediately Iran was not involved and was not aware of the planning of the attack (he did say Iran does train and equip Hamas).
* Hospital bombing that some said Israel did. He said this started from a Hamas claim that Russia then amplified and some in the media parroted. He mentioned all evidence pointed to an accidental misfire from Hamas — which apparently happens quite a bit. He also said it was a hospital parking lot that took the hit and the deaths were less than 25, not 500. People killed were refugees staying overnight in the parking lot.
Bremmer mentioned this disinformation directly caused several ME leaders to cancel meeting with Biden. And that lessened any power Biden had to negotiate with Netanyahu to delay ground troops.

Other things he said:
* Privately the White House views Biden’s visit to Israel as a failure.
* Biden neither likes nor has a good relationship with Netanyahu or Zelensky. But he is putting on a good Presidential leadership face and backing both publically.
* Israel recently changed their structure and Netanyahu must go thru the Israeli War Cabinet. Good news is that delays ground assault. But he called group assault inevitable and “there is nothing the US can do to stop it”
* Said bombs and ground assault will definitely increase deaths to the 10s of thousands. Said Hamas “operates in civilian areas and places missiles near and even in some schools.“ And Hamas is actively preventing some civilians in leaving (at least in Gaza)
*World economy: Oddly said current situation does not have much effect on world economy. But if Iran entered conflict it would have a devastating effect. He places only a 5% chance Iran enters conflict. Said Hezzbolah would need to get more involved first.
* 360K Israel citizens have been called up to the military. A large percentage considering only 10M in country.

easy peasy...theres' plenty more, but I decided to stop cuz it won't change your mindset anyway...

usatoday:
Gaza is surrounded by blockades imposed by Israel and Egypt, which restrict movement. Israel prevents access to and from Gaza by sea and air. Land movement is restricted to three crossings: the Egypt-controlled Rafah crossing and Erez and Kerem Shalom crossings, which Israel controls.

The U.N. has said that mass evacuation orders in the area will affect more than a million people. A total evacuation would mean the entire 2.23 million population of Gaza would have to squeeze into the southern half of the strip. Gaza, which is only 25 miles long in its entirety and just over twice the size of Washington, D.C., is the 63rd-most densely inhabited urban region in the world.

Palestinians fleeing to the south find no escape from danger

PBS:

Palestinians in Gaza face an impossible choice — stay home under airstrikes, or flee under airstrikes?

Many fled south for their lives, squeezing into relatives’ cars and trundling through streets blocked by rubble even as thundering bombardment crashed around them. A jumbled line of tractors, horse carts and donkeys stretched some 30 kilometers (18 miles) across the strip, turning what is normally a breezy 45-minute trip into a harrowing — and for dozens of people, deadly — two-hour journey.
Israeli airstrikes on evacuating vehicles killed at least 70 people, the Hamas press office said.

cnn:

People living in northern Gaza told to flee south

The Israeli military told 1.1 million people to leave densely populated northern Gaza, including Gaza City, and relocate to the south of the strip. The United Nations said the instruction would cause “devastating humanitarian consequences.”
