Alabama’s defensive coordinator seemed to come out of nowhere as a candidate. My booster contacts have confirmed that he’s been in communication with our athletic director, and they’re not thrilled about it either.

Right now, the expectation is that our AD will hire Kane Wommack sometime during the first week of December, though that could change at any moment. There are three other candidates in the mix, but each of them is a real head-scratcher.

What’s even more frustrating is that our AD — with help from TurnkeyZRG — hasn’t even made an attempt to pursue a proven, successful head coach. All four candidates are assistants. I’m not sure why that is, but it may be because experienced head coaches realize how challenging this job would be. And with our severely underfunded NIL situation, that’s probably the biggest reason of all.

Our NIL is not severely underfunded. I don’t know where that is coming from but seems inaccurate.

That said, we would be fools not to hire Eric morris

My top 3 in order at this point.

1. Morris
2. Klein
3. Golesh
I'm happy with either Morris or Golesh. Not Klein because he hasn't proven himself as a head coach yet. We're a big enough program that we require that.

It's going to be very interesting to see how well an engaged head coach performs at OSU. I think we can do some great things with the right leadership.

I agree I want an offensive minded head coach, we need to ignite this program again, and a great offense can help make the turn around more quickly in my opinion. Defense really just needs a bend dont break mentality

I understand the hesitation with Klein Forsure. I think he’s young and hungry though. Would be able to recruit well, especially in Texas I feel. Another thing with Klein IMO is the possibility of some A&M guys following him. Sounds crazy but if our donors pony up, I could see them being able to provide Klein with enough money to get a couple key guys to come with him.

I’d be thrilled with any of the three hires I listed though. Pretty exciting. My only knock with Golesh is his recent comments on Twitter/X, it has been very Les Miles like to me.

If we could convince Knowles to join forces with Eric Morris and he Brings that QB from UNT…. Look out

What did he say?

RT with comments to the CEO of athletics at USF, insinuating that he’s not going anywhere. So the way I see it, if he jumped ship after stuff like that it comes across very shady. There’s better ways to handle it. I think he’s a great coach but it comes across a lot like Miles if he does it.

Not sure I agree with that. A few coaches that come to mind would be Kirby Smart, Dan Lanning, Lincoln Riley (@OU). All coordinators who didn't have to prove themselves by being a head coach first.

The last thing we need is another head case.
