Everything he did is now within the rules of the NCAA. Maybe he wants to redeem himself before he dies and switch over to the good guys. And we will win, in not an ethical or moral way of any kind
Nah...F him.

He was the grand marshal at the Bethany 4th of July parade in 2002ish I think. He’s sitting on the back trunk of a convertible when I yell “go pokes” at him. He puts his hands down on his laps and just scowls at me.Everything he did is now within the rules of the NCAA. Maybe he wants to redeem himself before he dies and switch over to the good guys.

That is a fair perception in my opinion. If I am an AD interested in Gundy, the big question is how do you reconcile your opinion/comments about NIL with how you will use it to be successful moving forward.I would also be surprised if LSU hired him but oddly enough the National opinion of Gundy is a lot higher than the opinion of OSU fans and those of us on this board. He is pretty much universally respected for what he did here the past 20 years nationally with the exception of the last two years.
Just tell Gundy that you have a potful of money to spend on players. Someone else will raise the funds. He just has to coach. That is a fair perception in my opinion. I know recent results has biased my view of Gundy but I've been thinking about how I would structure a program to bring Gundy in as head coach.Just tell Gundy that you have a potful of money to spend on players. Someone else will raise the funds. He just has to coach.
You know it wouldn't be this easy.Just tell Gundy that you have a potful of money to spend on players. Someone else will raise the funds. He just has to coach.
Ironically for most of his coaching career he was know for and was actually innovative, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Unfortunately it appears his disdain for NIL negated that.I know recent results has biased my view of Gundy but I've been thinking about how I would structure a program to bring Gundy in as head coach.
In 2025, I struggle to pinpoint the things that Gundy excels at as the head coach. Just a few years ago, I would have said that he is great at identifying under-the-radar recruits or finding coaches that are great at it. He then had a staff that excelled at developing those players. But NIL and the transfer portal seems to have made that skill nil.
He's an offensive coach, but seems unimaginative if not resistant to tailoring an offense to the skills of his team. He hasn't been particularly effective at identifying great offensive or defensive coaches recently. He isn't going to outwork or out prepare other coaching staffs. That primarily leaves his culture and calmness as his best intangibles.
He's still young enough to coach for another 5-10yrs. But that's going to require that he evolve, be more aggressive on creating an innovative offense, more effort on recruiting and embracing NIL/the tranfer portal, and better at identifying and eventually replacing talented coaches.
He & Dabo, & a few others are in the same boat.Ironically for most of his coaching career he was know for and was actually innovative, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Unfortunately it appears his disdain for NIL negated that.
it doesn’t work that way though. That’s denial talking-‘oh, if he only had to coach, life would be great!’Just tell Gundy that you have a potful of money to spend on players. Someone else will raise the funds. He just has to coach.
You didn’t pay attention to anything I said. How were we when Holder was raising funds and Gundy was just coaching? He & Dabo, & a few others are in the same boat.
Like I said last winter, it’s pretty hard to accept hearing ‘I’m the guy to lead this moving forward!’, from the guy who thought the whole new landscape was a fad. Doesn’t make sense at all.

That ship has sailed.
Considering we’re among the worst P4 programs, thanks to Gundy, it’s doubtful any one of them is looking at him to dig them out of the hole they’re in.
Your point is not wrong. It’s much better to keep Gundy away from peopleYou didn’t pay attention to anything I said. How were we when Holder was raising funds and Gundy was just coaching?
It would have helped to have kept microphones away from him, too.Your point is not wrong. It’s much better to keep Gundy away from people
