Harris 2024 election thread

I don’t know if that will move anybody’s needle, but this is actually a really big deal for Edward’s to do this.

He is the very definition of an old-school Republican Reagan style conservative.
Isn't that also known as a RINO by the party leadership these days?

More than a dozen Reagan alumni endorse Vice President Harris thehill

Seventeen Republicans who worked under former President Reagan endorsed Vice President Harris, her campaign announced in a press release Sunday.

In the endorsement, which cited Reagan’s “Time for Choosing” speech, the Republicans said they believe Reagan would have supported Harris’s presidential bid if he were alive today.

“While he is not here to experience the current moment, we who worked for him in the White House, in the Administration, in campaigns and on his personal staff, know he would join us in supporting the Harris-Walz ticket,” they wrote in a statement.

The former officials said they hope other Republicans will follow them in supporting Harris.

“It’s our hope that this letter will signal to other Republicans and former Republicans that supporting the Democratic ticket this year is the only path forward toward an America that is strong and viable for our children and grandchildren for years to come,” they wrote.

“The time for choosing we face today is a choice between integrity and demagoguery, and the choice must be Harris-Walz. The choice between truth and lies demands support for Harris-Walz,” the former officials wrote. “The choice between freedom and suppression of freedoms means support for Harris-Walz.”

Among the Republicans listed are Kenneth Adelman, Reagan’s ambassador to the U.N. and U.S. arms control director; Carol Adelman, assistant administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development; Elizabeth Board, deputy assistant to the president for communications; B. Jay Cooper, deputy assistant to the president under Reagan and deputy White House press secretary to President George H. W. Bush; Pete Souza, official White House photographer; and others.

The statement follows a similar endorsement memo for Harris from more than 230 former staffers for Republican Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush and for presidential nominees Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) and the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).

The Harris campaign has sought to emphasize its support from Republicans, and it made a point to include several Republican supporters at the Democratic National Convention. Recently, former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) and former Vice President Dick Cheney endorsed Harris.

The Hill has reached out to the Trump campaign for comment.

Please let this lead to an unhinged rant about Reagan being a RINO

Reporter: More than a dozen Republicans who worked for Ronald Reagan just endorsed Kamala Harris, saying ‘The choice between truth and lies demands support for Harris-Walz.’ They said if President Reagan were alive today, they believe he would also support Harris. They are joining hundreds of Republicans, including the Cheneys, who are putting country over party

Conservative writer David French on his decision to vote for Vice President Harris:

“The Reagan Republican party is absolutely gone. If people want something to change here, Donald Trump has to go.”

BREAKING

Scientific American magazine has endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris. It's only the second time the magazine has backed a presidential candidate in its 179-year history.

Suffolk/USA Today dropped their Pennsylvania poll last night. Harris up three on Trump statewide, 49% to 46%. They also polled PA's two most important bellwether counties (whichever way these counties go, PA likely goes) and had KH up 48 to 44 in Erie and up 50 to 45 in Northampton.

It'll be hard for Republicans to spin this as Suffolk was spot on with their 2022 midterm polls, even underestimated Fetterman (the Democratic candidate) by 1-2% in that race.

Biden only won one of those by 1% and lost one by 1% in 2020

So for Harris to be up up 4 and up 5 in those two counties is a big deal

Iowa being a 4 point contest right is also a pretty good indicator. While Iowa isn't directly important, it's right there with and very similar to Wisconsin. So it showing Iowa as more towards Harris than it was Biden in 2020 indicates polls showing Harris up in Wisconsin are probably more accurate than previous cycles.

Russian propagandists are escalating attacks on the presidential campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris with false but widely circulated videos on social media, including one that featured an actor accusing Harris of a nonexistent hit-and-run that paralyzed a girl, Microsoft researchers said Tuesday. https://wapo.st/47tUxJ8

Maybe Russia is the foreign source of bomb threats. There has been around 33 to Springfield.

Former six-term S.C. Republican Congressman Bob Inglis endorsed Vice President Harris:

“Donald Trump is a clear and present danger to the republic. He’s disqualified based on character and rationality, so I’ll be voting for Kamala Harris.”

Former. It's too bad we don't see any "current" republican politicians endorse her.

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Tuesday took aim at Vice Pres. Kamala Harris' family life, saying the presidential candidate "doesn't have anything keeping her humble" because she has not raised biological children.

Trump's team is now scrambling to control the fallout after Sarah Huckabee Sanders' offensive dig at Kamala Harris for not having biological children. Even Trump's own adviser, Bryan Lanza, found Sanders' comments "actually offensive," highlighting the ignorance of using parenthood as a weapon in politics. The GOP’s obsession with attacking childless women is divisive, tone-deaf, and backfiring fast.
