You figured incorrectly because of your lack of knowledge, Dr. Dunning-Kruger. Ivermectin is ivermectin. There is no such thing as "ivermectin designed for humans" and "ivermectin designed for animals". It is the same chemical entity regardless of the animal it is used on, human or otherwise. The dosage forms are different, and the dosages are different for different animals, human or otherwise. It was ivermectin that killed him, not "designed for animals" that killed him.
From the article:
In 2021, as ivermectin became a popular alternative COVID-19 treatment among anti-vaxxers, he launched what became one of the largest Telegram channels dedicated to promoting the use of it, including instructions on how to administer ivermectin to children.
But despite Lemoi’s death, the administrators of his channel are pushing his misinformation—even as his followers share their own worrying possible side effects from taking ivermectin and some question the safety of the drug.
This is the problem, he was and had been pushing, and his web site is still pushing, ivermectin for uses that are fraudulent, including COVID-19 and cancer. I would call him a quack, but my definition of quackery assumes some medical knowledge and he has none, so fraud is the best term. And the fraud continues even after his death. When you take a medication for which there is no possible benefit, such as ivermectin for COVID-19, the the risks always outweigh the benefits, since there are only risks and no possible benefits. Lemoi learned this the hard way.
There has never been any credible data showing any effect of ivermectin against COVID-19. The two earliest studies that generated interest in ivermectin were both retracted when post-publication reviews found that their data didn't add up, they made up data. At least one of the researchers had an undisclosed financial interest in ivermectin, he was trying to drive prices up.
