The top ten in Athletic Department revenue among the Division One FBS programs are as follows:

Ohio State $251 million dollars
Texas $239 million dollars
Alabama $214 million dollars
Michigan $210 million dollars
Georgia $203 million dollars
LSU $199 million dollars
Texas A&M $193 million dollars
Florida $190 million dollars
Penn State $ 181 million dollars
Oklahoma $177 million dollars

The source, USA Today Sports - College Wire stated OU brought in $177 million in revenue and had expenditures of $ 175 million which left them with a roughly two million dollar profit. I hate them as much as anyone but acknowledge their status and pecking order on the tree!!! It is interesting to see that they would be number 7 in the SEC among revenue according to these numbers!
Yes they are 7th...and that is what they dont realize...up til nlw, they have only had to worry about ut being equal to them...they will learn what late season losses feel like due to attrition. Portal losses because playing time/nil etc. This state can only support so much...the population simply doesnt exist like it does on the east coast. Maybe I'm wrong...mayne I'm in the wrong thread...O just want to see pain...

Washington and WSU just signed a 5 year contract to keep their series going.

I'd have to hunt it down but this discussion was had when OU and Texas first announced that they were moving to the sec. That's because they needed money thanks to Boren.

They just didnt want to pay all that full amount to get out so early and whatever they did things played out in their favor from the money standpoint for everyone.

It was lame the first time you said it, way to dig deep there. ;)

I do want to congratulate the sooners for somehow managing to get up for the game in Provo. We all know that's a tall mountain to climb.

They are net $2,000,000, on $177,000,000 that’s not spectacular. They still don’t have the industry basis to get enough NIL money to complete with those above them.
Did you know OU's NIL was the first to make it so that every player on the the football, basketball and softball team gets 50k a year? in football at least, every scholarship and walk on player gets it. In terms of NIL OU is a major player right now, how else do you have a top 10 class in the NIL era? You cant if you dont play the NIL game. And this was after a 6-7 season. be interesting to se how donations look after a 10 win season in year 2.

As far as revenues and expenditures go, they spent over 56 million on renovations and other facilities costs in 2022, which is about 20 million more than what is normal. This would otherwise put their net revenue right in line with most of the other top revenue generators on that list. And of course this is before they get the sec payouts which could be 70 80 million a year vs the 40 million or so that they get from big 12. That's just more $ they can throw at renovations while donors can throw money into NIL.

OSU has always been behind the eight ball financially. Fortunately games aren’t played on a spreadsheet.

This is why their ceiling is an occasional type of season that gets them to a NY6 bowl, sandwiched in between some 7 and 8 win seasons resulting in the camping world, liberty and texas bowls.
