Mike Gundy gives passionate response to fans’ criticism during 3-6 season

Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy went on a tangent during his Monday news conference.

Gundy addressed the fans.

"I have to have a better feel for a broad picture of the organization in general," Gundy said. "Kind of the synopsis of all of this is that this place has had tremendous success for 18 and a half years or 19. I can't do the math real good, but unfortunately in life, most people are weak, and as soon as things start to not go as good as what they thought, they fall apart and they panic, and then they want to point the finger and blame other people. You see it happen in everyday life. People do it all the time. That's why I refuse to watch the TV and watch the news, because I get tired of people complaining and bitching about this and that versus just doing something about it and trying to figure out a way to make it better. Well, that's what happens in college athletics. And as Jenni said, she's exactly right: it's just on the bigger stage where people can voice their opinion, and in most cases, the people that are negative and voicing their opinion are the same ones that can't pay their own bills. They're not taking care of themselves. They're not taking care of their own family. They're not taking care of their own job. But they have an obligation to speak out and complain about others because it makes them feel better. But then, in the end, when they go to bed at night, they're the same failure that they were before they said anything negative about anybody else."

Im trying to figure out what the h3ll hes talking about. Is he saying OSU fans are losers? Then there's this:

"But I think what's important for all the Oklahoma State fans to know is that we're very aware of what's going on, and at some point in life, we all have to put trust into somebody. And I think they need to trust that we have a good plan for what's going on here in the big picture, and we have answers. Sometimes they're not short term. Sometimes they might be long term answers."

Is he saying we need to just trust him? BULLSH1T. I trusted him and gave him benefit of the doubt for years, but the last few years has been horrible with little evidence of improvement or even care. He needs to earn trust again by at least showing something is improving at ANY level.

Anyone up for a mass group forwarding of the article and quotes in question to AD Weiburg and Pres Dr Shrum? Suggest additional questions to clarify if he is calling OSU fans and alumni losers and asking why after 3 years of subpar displays on the field especially with this embarrassing streak of getting dominated on the field, that we need to just trust him.

The essence of my anger is that with what’s going on here we should be hearing absolutely nothing but I’VE GOT TO BE BETTER, WE HAVE TO BE BETTER, ZERO EXCUSES.

Instead we get the ‘we haven’t changed around here for 10 years’ and this bullshit.
Anyone with a modicum of ability to read the damn room knows his approach here is failing PR 101 & smacks of an attitude of invincibility.

Has there been success over the time he’s been coach? Absolutely. Has there been unprecedented investment in resources during that time? Fn A right there’s been! Remember the brilliant debacle of Brewer & Taylor as Co-OC’s, then Gundy running the O?

Time to shut the F up Mike and get to work. If Eddie and John Smith can get let go, don’t overplay your hand, this isn’t 2002.

They don't until there are more empty seats than those occupied, loss of season ticket sales, and donations plummet. Football is the golden goose and when it is dying changes will be made including the Head Coach who believes he is more important than the program and university.

I think that it’s fair to say that close to 90% of the fan base are not happy about this season. This statement he made is absolute hubris. Gundy is no better than any other person. Yea, it’s football and people want to win but he is not handling adversity well. He is lashing out against the very ones that want his success. I have decided to make drastic life changes and told my wife and kids that I will no longer support them financially as I have committed to criticizing mike gundy full time.

I’ve tried to defend Gundy in the past, but no more. The vast majority of OSU fans I know have way more grit and gumption than your average bear. This might be the single stupidest thing I’ve heard come out of his mouth, with the possible exception of the following:
