2024 Presidential Election

Jon Stewart pod cast interview/discussion on what is causing the divide between Dem party and working class and what needs to happen in America to correct some issues politically. Lot of discuss on identity and how class plays into things. Getting away from talking about middle class as the goal and talking about how to make working class (of whatever chosen career field) be livable.

Long video but I'm curious as to some thoughts from the right side of the aisle.

And I guess by own worst enemy, I really mean another 4 years of easy clicks.

We will see. I wonder how much anti-Trump fatigue played into the election result and how it will impact ratings the next 4 years.

Take me for example-6 years ago anything anti-Trump I was lapping up because I think the guy is absolutely awful. Now though, with the Trump is the devil article of the day, I'm kinda burned out over the whole thing. He is who he is-I get it and don't need the daily reminder. I'm guessing I'm not alone in this.

The media loves Trump because he's been good for business. I'm definitely checking out as much as I can for the next four years, we'll see how many others do.

With the likes of MSNBC going off air, you are probably right. Folks are tired of it. Trump has been the biggest story in this country for 9 years now.

The only remedy is to vote for limited government. Unfortunately i don't know if that's even possible anymore.
I really don't know how it is possible in this system that I complained about to vote for limited government.

Seems to me the options are always spending, we are just picking where we want them to focus the spending.

This is the federal debt. Can anyone show me at what point we voted for limited government?

Donald Trump nominated John Phelan, a prominent figure in private investment and art who has no prior military experience, as the next Secretary of the Navy.

Why!?!?!?

I know the current theme going around is that government workers work a half day at best, live the leisure life with benefits etc. I can tell you that my job is pretty labor-intensive now. They ask a lot out of me now that I am a director.

I'm curious about all these multi-millionaires and billionaires being chosen for cabinet positions and to run huge government departments. Despite having more money than they will ever possibly spend, are they just workaholics and are happy to take a government job and put long hours in trying to fix departments? Or, are they somewhat figureheads? They point the direction they want things to go, give a speech here and there, get briefed so they can brief the president, but don't really put in a lot of time?

I just can't imagine if I was in my 60s or 70s and was loaded, that my desire would be to be sit in a Washington office trying to run a big department.

It’s an opportunity to engage in and direct public policy/conduct to their own personal financial gain.

They don’t give a :poop: about being a civil servant. They’re oligarchs, and there is no such thing as “enough is enough” for an oligarch.

Interesting that she'd already said that publicly in response to Trump's reason for the tariffs. Essentially she said the actions had already been taken so the tariffs were unnecessary. This is the not the win for him he's claiming. It's a win for Biden.

"She said Tuesday that Mexico had done a lot to stem the flow of migrants, noting “caravans of migrants no longer reach the border.” However, Mexico’s efforts to fight drugs like the deadly synthetic opioid fentanyl — which is manufactured by Mexican cartels using chemicals imported from China — have weakened in the last year.

Sheinbaum said Mexico suffered from an influx of weapons smuggled in from the United States, and said the flow of drugs “is a problem of public health and consumption in your country’s society.” "

Lol. You’re right we can’t let Trump continue to get away with this. Actually she talked tough a couple of days ago and then bent the knee today. You’re a riot😂😂😂😂

Get away with what? Wtf are you talking about.

His claim that he has already made everything better and you believe everything he says?

Border crossings have been down for most of the year and fentanyl has been WAY down for months. Look the crap up, he hasn't done anything. The tariff threats didn't magically fix it all. If he goes through with it we will see reciprocal tariff coming back at us and everyone loses.

The only problem with Sanders was too many interceptions. He couldn’t throw bullets. I think Smith and possibly Flores can.

Neither party wants limited government or to reduce spending, and they never have. They just have different spending priorities. They may cut spending in one area, but they increase it somewhere else.

Accordingly, people in general don't want less government spending when it is something that benefits them. They only want to cut spending that doesn't benefit them. I always get a kick out of my farmer buddies that complain about welfare queens, but think they are entitled to their government check from the FSA office.

Woodrow Wilson had a secretary of the navy during WWI who didn't have military experience. FDR had several people serve as secretary and undersecretary of the Navy during WWII who didn't have military experience. I know nothing about Phelan and I don't trust Trump, so not saying this is a good pick or not, but military experience isn't a requirement.

What bent knee? Trumps statement didn't seem to me to say anything any different, especially if you realize it is in Trump-speak.
Trump says he’s going to tariff them into oblivion. She says if he does she’ll tariff him back. Then evidently someone reminded her what percentage of their exports go to the United States. Next thing ya know she thinks it’s a good idea to help fix the border problem or she’s going to win a bunch of stupid prizes.
