2024 Presidential Election

The only problem with Sanders was too many interceptions. He couldn’t throw bullets. I think Smith and possibly Flores can.

I really don't know how it is possible in this system that I complained about to vote for limited government.

Seems to me the options are always spending, we are just picking where we want them to focus the spending.

This is the federal debt. Can anyone show me at what point we voted for limited government?

Neither party wants limited government or to reduce spending, and they never have. They just have different spending priorities. They may cut spending in one area, but they increase it somewhere else.

Accordingly, people in general don't want less government spending when it is something that benefits them. They only want to cut spending that doesn't benefit them. I always get a kick out of my farmer buddies that complain about welfare queens, but think they are entitled to their government check from the FSA office.

Donald Trump nominated John Phelan, a prominent figure in private investment and art who has no prior military experience, as the next Secretary of the Navy.

Why!?!?!?
Woodrow Wilson had a secretary of the navy during WWI who didn't have military experience. FDR had several people serve as secretary and undersecretary of the Navy during WWII who didn't have military experience. I know nothing about Phelan and I don't trust Trump, so not saying this is a good pick or not, but military experience isn't a requirement.

Lol. You’re right we can’t let Trump continue to get away with this. Actually she talked tough a couple of days ago and then bent the knee today. You’re a riot😂😂😂😂
What bent knee? Trumps statement didn't seem to me to say anything any different, especially if you realize it is in Trump-speak.

Trump says he’s going to tariff them into oblivion. She says if he does she’ll tariff him back. Then evidently someone reminded her what percentage of their exports go to the United States. Next thing ya know she thinks it’s a good idea to help fix the border problem or she’s going to win a bunch of stupid prizes.

What specifically has she agreed to do about the border beyond what she said when she said "There are no longer caravans arriving at the border?"

And, Trump parroted her conclusion that the drug issue is a US public health issue. I guess he bent a knee, too.
The idea that harm can only come to one of the two countries if one of the leaders acts a fool based on export percentages completely misses the point. I'm pretty sure China or others would be happy to step in as a leading trade partner with our bordering nation if we are foolish.

Trump has the leverage with Mexico. Biden had it as well but he wanted the border wide open. They don’t have a specific deal worked out yet that I have seen but her rhetoric has sure changed in a couple of days. Things are going to change at the border.

They have been talking about fixing illegal immigration for as long as I can remember. The party in control has changed multiple times, but they are still just talking about it. It makes a good talking point and wedge issue, but the people really in charge don't want it fixed because they like the cheap labor.

Houses wouldn't get framed, concrete wouldn't get poured, cows wouldn't get milked, and produce wouldn't get picked (just to name a few) if they stopped the inflow of migrants. I'm all for securing the boarder, stopping criminals and illegal drugs if they want to truly fix immigration policy. The problem is that neither party actually wants to fix it. Trump didn't fix it the last time he was in office, why would I believe he will fix it this time.

He better or I won’t ever vote for him again 😜.

You could put a full stop on the south boarder right now and the system would still function for a while. You could implement selective deportations on those who hadn't been class citizens, and the system would still function. If you had a magic button the deported all illegals tomorrow, you would have some issues but its not going to happen. Magic buttons don't exist.

I can't speak for the food industry, but Construction pays well, and the vast majority of your framing and concrete crews are built with legal crewmen. Right now, things are slowing down a bit. I think one thing you may have seen in the Hispanic Trump vote is an objection of competition that will work at a lower cost.

Since Covid, we have not had control of the situation. We at least need to gain some sort of a grip on it.

Well stop trying to destroy the country @oks10.
I say develop the country by Trump abolishing the corporate income tax to attract manufacturers from overseas. The Chinese corporate income tax is 25% before subsidies, if any. Then make up for the $400 billion or whatever in lost revenue by raising income taxes on millionaires and billionaires. More tariffs should be avoided. Also, corporations won't have to pass income taxes on to us anymore.

I agree we need to get a grip on it, control the boarder, and fix immigration. The problem is they have been talking about it for as long as I can remember, but for some reason it never gets fixed. Sure everyone wants to stop the criminals and the drugs (except the criminals themselves), but too many others depend on the cheap labor. I don't know where you're from, and the framing crews and concrete guys may all be legal in your area, but they ain't around here.

I don't see a fix, but the situation can be managed. I work in commercial construction. I think wherever you that industry is mostly legal. It pays more and requires more skill. Residential construction I'll admit is more than likely dependent on a certain percentage of unregistered labor.

Donald Trump Threatens BRICS Countries—Including Russia, India—With 100% Tariffs

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the 100% tariff would affect all BRICS countries—Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates—until they commit to not creating a new BRICS currency or back another currency that could replace the “mighty” dollar.

Any and all arguments from the “Christian” understanding regarding abortion are laid bare here and shown to be lacking in comparison to what the “Christian Right” proclaims to be the obvious Christian understanding of abortion. The person speaking in this clip has a PHD in this sh!t. If we can’t acknowledge that a person has spent their life studying a specific topic and knows what they are talking about, then this entire board needs to be moved to yahoo answers. Seriously, isn’t this board based on a f**king higher education institution? Any and all abortion discussion based on a fundamentalist/literalist interpretation of the Bible is bogus from the very foundation. If there is any argument for a “biblical” understanding of abortion and how it is wrong … well, it has no basis in Christian literature and you’re wrong. You’re wrong and I don’t know how else to say it.

Also, I would encourage anyone with Bible questions to head to Dan’s page. Instagram, especially. Great stuff.
