Looking at the election results, it seems less than a million people actually voted to reduce the size of the federal government and cut spending. Guess what, if you picked an R or a D, you aren't among them.
Yeah. They'd actually save a TON on the defense budget by increasing the government workforce. Lots of work is handed off to contractors who get paid a lot more to do what the government side isn't staffed for.Yea, because government salaries are so high:
Temporary hires for issues like COVID, GFC etc.
And, here is the "overpaid" Federal workforce. This isn't going to make a dent in the debt. But, given that 60% of fed employees are DOD, VA etc, mass layoffs as proposed will harm the military and vets.

You know Elon is just going to cut his competition out of the government... even worse would be doing something like he did with Twitter and do across the board without any consideration into what people are doing/ office work/staffing load and end up killing function and hurting those (people and business) that depend on the gov actually functioning.Seems to cut spending and to avoid conflict of interest step one of this needs to be Musk either divesting of his stock in the companies that he leads that do business with the Federal Government or cancelling every government contract. Pretty hypocritical of a billionaire to suck at the government teet for millions of dollars while firing the regular working guy. But, that is what the people voted for.
Unthinking mass layoffs is my concern. Like any large workforce, I'm sure there are people not doing much. And if this is really an efficiency review, fine. I can tell you my team works their tails off. And, we have had several retirements/changed jobs and there has been hiring freeze so we are already short. But, if it is just a couple of wealthy guys saying "Cut 50% now" and putting that on X for their own satisfaction they are going to cause serious problems. You know Elon is just going to cut his competition out of the government... even worse would be doing something like he did with Twitter and do across the board without any consideration into what people are doing/ office work/staffing load and end up killing function and hurting those (people and business) that depend on the gov actually functioning.
He's not going to be cutting government jobs.Good news is all the government jobs trump cuts can go work all the immigrant jobs when he deports them…it’ll all work out… prepare for the $h!t $how…
ahhh... the old GOP preventing government from doing its job and then saying it needs to stay out of services because it sucks approach. Sounds about right.Probably the plan- make us work short, then claim "See the VA is garbage."
Nepotism sucks. He's not going to be cutting government jobs.
He's just going to turn merit protected civil servant system jobs into political patronage jobs that he can fill with MAGA loyalists for his own benefit.
Yep. Neither of the major parties, and candidates, paid much lip service to stopping or even slowing the national debt. And neither spoke about fixing the looming Social Security shortage.Looking at the election results, it seems less than a million people actually voted to reduce the size of the federal government and cut spending. The big question Americans are Googling after electing Trump
One big question hangs over the heads of millions of American voters after the US election. And they’re taking to Google to ask it in huge numbers.thenightly.com.au

I assumed those were for the census? What are the narrow spikes in the top plot?
That would make sense.I assumed those were for the census?

What are their salaries? She has a point:
Just like a congressman getting wealthy off a $174k salary. What a naive question to think they are doing this for a salary. LOL. I'm pretty sure Musk will get the same non-salary he got from Tesla and will likely end up that much more wealthy getting paid "zero."What are their salaries?
