2023 Basketball Offseason

UConn just hired a ‘general manager of basketball.’

They will oversee operational functions for men’s, women’s, and NIL functions for both programs. I will see if I can find the story and post it because I just saw the tagline running at the bottom of the screen.

This seems to be very forward thinking.
Is that something similar to what Barry Hinson does as the Director of NIL at OSU?

Hell of a job keeping consistency going, Boynton. Brand new team every year.
Yeah, I think this will be most team's annual reality in sports like basketball. It'll be more like a circuit. It might calm down a touch if they can reign in the double transfer thing.

And another big gone. Again believe this one was expected earlier in the off season but might have changed when Cisse bolted for NIL opportunities. Only leaves a true freshman to run the post.

Still think we are going to run something more along the lines of what Kansas ran this year and what we ran with Cade 2yrs ago, but would like to see more length and consistent shooting.

This is going to be a rough season and the buyout at the end is still $9MM so Boynton will get another year

We have another rough season and miss the tourney I bet we have some donors step in with the buyout money.
Can’t really go hat in hand and ask for $ for new practice facility and then come back and ask for buyout $. I mean you can but at some point we’ve go to quit chasing bad money. That would be around $15MM in buyouts in less than 10 yrs. That’s naming rights.

If he has that many players leaving he obviously isn't doing his job. Fire him for cause, cause he sucks

No. He doesn’t suck. He just got a huge job before he was ready.
What do you call it when he can't keep players and can't win consistently? If Travesty sucked (he did big time) Boynton has entered the sphere of suckitude. Is it all his fault? Not necessarily, but he's not blameless either.

I’m saying the guy will one day be a really solid coach. It wasn’t fair for him to take his lumps against hall of famers in the toughest conference. It almost worked. Eventually he will be great. After he goes down a conference. He would kill at tu
