Who says they wouldn't want him? I think most don't consider him because of the reason you do not want to hear.

For me I would prefer a younger coach.

McDerrmot was my first choice until everyone said he wasn’t being considered because he wouldn’t leave Creighton.

Why do we not like the idea of McDermott again?

Save the "he won't come here" replies. No one but him, his wife and agent know that. I want to know disqualifies him as a coaching option for so many of our fans.

I would take McDermott in a heartbeat if he wanted to come. Chad would be foolish not to make a phone call to gauge interest.

That said, he just signed a new contract a couple weeks ago. Creighton is a private school, so the salary hasn't been released, but it reportedly came with a big raise that made him one of the highest paid coaches in the Big East. Hoiberg & McDermott may be out of reach financially now with their new deals.

I’m more invested in this year‘s tournament than I have been in almost 2 decades. Simply because I’m trying to figure out who our next coach is. At least it brought back some of the excitement of what used to be the best time of the year.

We're either gonna get a retread or do what we did last time and take our chances on someone unproven and hope they can learn the job. Pick your poison.

Are you forgetting that we DID hire a really good coach recently; a solid hire with experience AND upside? Those coaches exist. We hired one of them. Obviously it didn't work out for us for a variety of reasons, but it has to be acknowledged as a potential (and likely?) outcome in our current search.
