US continues to go backward...

This lady is 1000% correct

It's scary to wonder just how many Oklahoma Republican women would be in sharp disagreement with that woman. I sure hope a good number of women as well as men who do agree with her as well show up at the polls in November.

There has never been a U. S. Supreme Court justice removed. I think Thomas will be free to get richer and richer accepting money and gifts until he decides it's time for him to retire. I could be proven wrong, if Democrats are fully in charge in DC from the result of the November elections.

Since Trump wants to bribe $1 billion from the oil companies to put that much in his campaign fund, what Thomas has been doing looks like little more than spare pocket change.

It would take a two thirds supermajority to vote for conviction on articles of impeachment.

That’s probably not going to happen in our lifetimes or probably…ever.

If people cared about our nation and not their party politics he would be gone.
We are traveling this weekend so we streamed “The Situation Room” by George Stephanapolous. He traces the situation room from its inception 2 weeks after Bay of Pigs through each President. In some cases there are multiple events. George is fair to everyone so far (we are through Clinton). Nixon and Oliver North so far are the only ones a negative light has shined on. He’s also honest about the mistakes in Clinton’s private and public life. Some great story telling.

I replied to your post because the book really illustrates the problems of politics when it comes to some of our nations most key moments since JFK.

What is striking is that several key players transcend politics and serve loyalty and with integrity across many different presidents whether they have an R or D. Think Colin Powell and some others and some I’ve never heard of.

What’s striking is that these people are who some have termed the Swamp. Sure we have some on both sides who have anterior motives but political party be danged sometimes we have been lucky to have a long serving person. Our country is better off for their loyalty to nation over party or personality.

2 of my favorites so far.

1) President Carter the Southern Baptist Sunday School teacher was all in on para psychology. Yep Carter liked and sought input from Psychics. Claimed there was a 35-45 percent accuracy which was in line w other methods of intelligence gathering at the time. They gave 3 specific examples.

2).The first Bush was a really decent human. He would invite low level staffers on movie night to have popcorn and watch movies w he and barb and the grand kids. Also told some other stories. He probably doesn’t get enough credit as a President for things he did in the office.

Seems to be just a gathering of still very bitter sore losers.

Lindsey Graham on CBS claims D-Day was "a failure"

To be upfront on this. I hate Lindsey Graham. He kowtows to Trump constantly and has no spine to stand up for anything. That being said...This is one of those where the line is really bad but the overall jist of what he was trying to say isn't. The quote comes after response about Tuberville and saying he's wrong about Ukraine and doesn't represent the rest of the GOP.

"SEN. GRAHAM: No, it represents him and him alone. If you spent 15 minutes studying Putin and what he wants, he wants to re- recreate the Russian Empire. He's not going to stop in Ukraine. We celebrated the 80th anniversary of D-Day. It was a failure. It was the unnecessary war, described by Winston Churchill. We had a dozen chances to stop Hitler. It's not about NATO. It's not about American weapons in Ukraine. It's about a megalomaniac wanting to create the Russian Empire by force of arms. If you don't stop him, there goes Taiwan. So we've been slow as hell of helping Ukraine, but Senator Tuberville's analysis really misses what Putin's all about. "

One things he's right about (I think what he's trying to say) is you can't give in to people like Hitler or Putin ever... and if they'd not caved initially Allies wouldn't have had to go through Normandy.

But again he's a piece of poo that is giving into a wannabe fascist dictator on the regular so he has no room to talk. Doesn't seem to listen to his own lesson.

If Sen. Graham had good judgment in what all he said, he would have simply left out this short and unsweet part of it, "It was a failure".

Why would Putin want to invade Poland or any other NATO country and risk setting off nuclear war? He knew he better do something about Ukraine by invading it before it joined NATO. It would never be comfortable having the borders of a NATO country jutting into Russia.

Anyway, if Putin's goal or end game really is to restore Poland and the rest of eastern Europe to a renewed Soviet Union or Russian Empire, I don't see how he does it without setting off nuclear war. Unlike the early days of Hitler's aggression, we are dealing with many nuclear weapons on both sides. It seems a number of world leaders, such as Graham, are pretending they don't exist.

Another point Graham made is that “If we help Ukraine now, they can become the best business partner we ever dreamed of, that 10-12 trillion dollars of critical mineral assets could be used by Ukraine and the West, not given to Putin and China.” However, this article says that Russia already controls at least $12.4 trillion dollars' worth of Ukraine's energy, metal and mineral deposits in the occupied part as of 2022. So, we know one major reason why Russia may never be persuaded to get out of Ukraine. Anyway, I doubt the world is worth the risk of destroying it over what foreign interest gets control of many trillions of dollars' worth of industrial resources. Let Ukraine control Ukraine.

Alito recorded admitting to being very partisan in conversation at Supreme Court Historical Society’s annual dinner June 3.

“I think you’re probably right,” he said. “On one side or the other — one side or the other is going to win. I don’t know. I mean, there can be a way of working — a way of living together peacefully, but it’s difficult, you know, because there are differences on fundamental things that really can’t be compromised. They really can’t be compromised. So it’s not like you are going to split the difference.”

He later agreed with her sentiment that people must fight to “return our country to a place of godliness."

That's not how SCOTUS is supposed to be. Very frustrating.

FYI. Chief Justice Roberts pushed against this thought process when asked the same questions.

GOP doesn't care about children post birth or those in need.
