US continues to go backward...

Southern Baptists are poised to ban churches with women pastors. Some are urging them to reconsider

At the SBC’s annual meeting June 11-12 in Indianapolis, representatives will vote on whether to amend the denomination’s constitution to essentially ban churches with any women pastors — and not just in the top job. That measure received overwhelming approval in a preliminary vote last year.
The first 6 people entrusted with and introduced to the Risen Christ were all women. The Host of heaven first told Women he had Risen and then the risen Christ himself appeared to them and sent them forth to spread the word of his resurrection.

God set and example on the morning of his resurrection that women were VITAL and entrusted to spread and tell his message and confirm his resurrection.

The Fact that "Christian" Men are still trying to prevent women from doing what Jesus himself charged them to do on the day of his resurrection is INFFURATING to me.

It flies squarely against the example Jesus set on DAY 1 of Resurrection.

IDAHO Idaho bar owner behind 'Heterosexual Awesomeness Month' speaks out: 'Boy, did it take off'

Even Idaho bar owner Mark Fitzpatrick was surprised by the strong reaction to his Heterosexual Awesomeness Month promo in response to Pride Month.

"I was thinking of a way that we could celebrate the other side of sexuality, heterosexuality, the way God designed it. And that's kind of where I'm at with people that support us and are like-minded. So we decided to do Heterosexual Awesomeness Month and then launched it and boy, oh boy, did it take off," Fitzpatrick told Fox News Digital.

Fitzpatrick’s bar, the Old State Saloon, announced ahead of June that it would be kicking off its first salute to heterosexuality with discounts and free beer for heterosexual men, women and couples throughout the month.

Though he acknowledged receiving "crass" and "rude" messages online and phone calls, Fitzpatrick said, for the most part, the public reaction has been "overwhelmingly positive."

...
Fitzpatrick remarked that the idea was "honestly pretty last minute" as simple pushback against the nationwide promotion for LGBTQ Pride Month.

"I'm Christian. I follow what the Bible says. I love people. I love all types of people and everything. But when you love people, it doesn't mean that you have to necessarily get behind everything they decide to do. And especially with the way things have been going the last few years, as far as how extreme it gets in June," Fitzpatrick said.

...
He added, "I'm not just going to sit there and do nothing anymore. I'm going to be involved. I'm going to be out there. I'm going to be rallying people to help do the right thing, celebrate godly things. And I think the rest of the country should do that."

...

Fitzpatrick shared how he thinks a lot of companies don't want to weigh in on the issue and open themselves up to the potential controversy and blowback. He said he was at a point in his life that he's "done being quiet about things."

"I want the truth," he said. "I know there's a lot of deception out there in the world. I want the truth to come out on a lot of things, and I just want glorify God in everything that I do."

my two cents: my favorite comment from people who speak out against Pride Month and/or the LGBTQ+ community is they ¨don´t have a problem with it, they are just tired of having it shoved down their throat.¨ Imagine having discrimination ´shoved down your throat´ 12 months of the year?!
People who don´t understand the struggles of living in our country as a member of the LGBTQ+ community will never get it nor sympathize with them. I hate the hatred and bigotry in our country!
If I lived near this bar in Idaho, I would go every Monday with a pride shirt, hat, flag, etc. and get my free pint for being a heterosexual man while supporting Pride Month! ha

Nobody in this thread or the original thread posted by @Polds4OSU.

Both of those explicitly stated that he insinuated that Black folks were better off during Jim Crow.

My comprehension is fine.

Insinuate: impart or suggest in an artful or indirect way

And he absolutely did insinuate that black folks were better off during Jim Crow….Donalds’s backtracking notwithstanding.
Good follow up interview

Joy-Ann Reid: Is there a specific period between 1867 and 1968 that you thought was this golden era for Black families, or a time that was good for Black families?

Byron Donalds: I never said that. See, this is where the gaslighting comes in.

@joyannreid: No, no, no. Hold on. Stop. Nope, that’s not what you said. Let’s play what you said. Play what he said.

Joy-Ann Reid: During Jim Crow, could your family have existed? You are in an interracial marriage.

Bryon Donalds: No, it could not.

@joyannreid: What I'm grateful for is that we do not live in the Jim Crow era and that fathers do not face the threat of lynching. And perhaps don't bring up Jim Crow when you're trying to make that example.

Colorado Republican Party calls for burning of all Pride flags as Pride Month kicks off

The Colorado Republican Party says it stands by a social media post that called for the burning of all Pride flags this week as the LGBTQ+ community celebrated the beginning of Pride month.

“Burn all the #pride flags this June,” the state GOP wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday. The party also sent an email blast targeting Pride month.

“The month of June has arrived and, once again, the godless groomers in our society want to attack what is decent, holy, and righteous so they can ultimately harm our children,” said the email, signed by party Chairman Dave Williams.

The chairman told USA TODAY in an email Wednesday that the state GOP makes "no apologies" for its message.

“We make no apologies for saying God hates pride or pride flags as it’s an agenda that harms children and undermines parental authority, and the only backlash we see is coming from radical Democrats, the fake news media, and weak Republicans who bow down at the feet of leftist cancel culture," Williams said.

The Colorado GOP's message is the latest incident targeting the LGBTQ+ community as Pride month kicks off. In Carlisle, Massachusetts, more than 200 Pride flags were stolen days before a local Pride event. Last June, Pride flags were stolen, slashed or burned in several states.

Politicians from both sides of the aisle denounced the Colorado GOP's anti-LGBTQ+ message this week.

"For those in the back, both parties are NOT the same," Colorado Democratic Party Chair Shad Murib wrote in a post on X. “This type of vile hatred has come to define the CO GOP and it's why we're organizing up and down the ballot to beat them at all levels."

Valdamar Archuleta, president of the Colorado chapter of the conservative LGBTQ+ advocacy group Log Cabin Republicans and a GOP candidate for Congress, declined the party’s endorsement in response to the email and said it did not reflect the Republican voters of his state.

“I have been an avid critic of where the celebration of Pride has gone in recent years and firm supporter of protecting children from environments and entertainments that are of an adult nature. However, this email went too far and was just hateful,” Archuleta said.

The state GOP chair said Archuleta will still have the support of the party as the "presumptive nominee." Williams added if Archuleta doesn't want the party label, he will have to withdraw from the race.

More than 500 anti-LGBTQ+ bills were proposed in 2023, according to the Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest LGBTQ+ rights organization. In June 2023, the group issued a "state of emergency" after over 75 anti-LGBTQ+ bills were signed into law across the U.S., more than doubling the number of such bills in 2022.

Pride flags were stolen or destroyed in several incidents last year. Ahead of a Pride Day assembly at an elementary school in North Hollywood, California, authorities said a person broke into the school and set a small LGBTQ+ flag on fire.

In Omaha, Nebraska, a masked man set fire to a Pride flag being displayed outside a home on June 2, 2023. One day later, police arrested a teenage boy on suspicion of ripping a Pride flag while pulling it down from a home in Huntington Beach, California.

In Tempe, Arizona, authorities said someone took down a Pride flag outside City Hall and burned it. In Pennsylvania, one candy shop had its Pride flag stolen repeatedly, and there were a series of Pride flag thefts in the Salt Lake City area.

Don’t think she thought through that very well. All she does now is continually serving up content consumed only by extremely biased viewers.

Reid: When was the golden era during Jim Crow?

Donalds: I never said that. I was talking about fathers in homes.

Reid: Proceeds to show an edited video proving him correct.

At least the Oklahoma Republican Party isn't doing anything like the above even though extremist Nathan Dahm is state party chairman and term limited as state senator.

It was amazing that the Republican mayor of Oklahoma City, David Holt, wasn't afraid to march behind the grand master car in the gay parade in OKC last Sunday. There is such a thing as a Republican believing in live and let live. Maybe Holt helped discourage Republicans at the state capitol from passing any law banning drag queens from anything. There are surely already laws in place to use against drag queens who do obscene things during a public performance open to all people.

Jesus Christ your going to triple down on dumb?

Blacks continue to be disproportionately incarcerated, policed, and sentenced to death at significantly higher rates than their white counterparts. That helps explain why so many black fathers are not in their homes. Would Donalds care to address that problem.

So instead of listening for context, not editing their statements, and taking people at the word of what they actually stated and believe …you applaud adding phrasing to their words, quoting others incorrectly, and informing them of what they never said is wrong.

Do you champion that with everyone or is there something different about Donalds?

What he was saying was African American children lived in single family homes ~20% of the time in the 50s. That has now jumped to ~65%.

Being incarcerated accounts for an amount and there are other factors as well. It would be interesting to see what Donalds would say about that because I do know he has made statements about being tough on crime.

The increase of single families has reduced household income, parental supervision, and child education.
Would hope most people would be celebrating a group of black leader discussing this issue in a small forum.

Yes the context that he said that they voted more conservatively implying that it was better then. You are the one that refuses to look at context. Continue putting your head in the sand and believing what your orange leader wants you to believe. And get the ef. Out of here with you don’t like Trump you’ve defended him at just about every freaking turn.

Did you watch the longer video or just the edited clip? He was talking about black nuclear families. Specifically how there were much less black single family households in the past. Would have it been better to just say “in the 50s” yes agreed, but he was just stating a time of a generation before his generation…and used his absentee father as an example.
Watch it without your ideology creeping in, think about the audience of young black men he was addressing … and I think you may understand better.

And Trump?? Where did that come from? Other than his tax cuts (which admittedly I love and don’t want to see expire) confident I’ve never defended Trump on here or IRL. I am decidedly NOT a Trump fan.

I did and it all is implying that they were better off durring Jim Crow and that is just not factual. But continue to hear what you like to believe and not actually think.

lol. He provided his exact words. He has stated several times he was not saying black families were better off back then. Tons of data showing less single family black homes in the 50s and yet you claim it is not factual.
Some day I hope to understand those with extreme ideology, but I am not there yet.

So you didn’t take the time to read and comprehend the article either. Got it.
I apologize as I’ve been away traveling for the day but nowhere in the article can you read where HJ says Donald said… about Jim Crow.

I read the article but then when you started being … well you I wanted to go back and reread bc of your insistence.

I’ll hold out that I’m wrong and didn’t read and comprehend the Hill article so please point me to where I can read that in the article.
