See bolder statement of yours......yes, you are the troll.

That is absolutely in no way true.

I'm in no way suggesting that there AREN'T ANY "leftist loonies" that are contributing to the "proliferation of the insanity" and rise of political violence in America. I am arguing that saying "Trump is a danger to democracy", No Kings rallies, and other criticisms of Trump (per your absurd meme) aren't responsible for the "proliferation of the insanity" and the rise in violence.

I am also pointing out that "MAGA loonies" are ALSO contributing to the "proliferation of the insanity" and rise of political violence in America. That is a position you seemingly reject out of hand and that is the reason why I'm calling you a troll.

But you could EASILY clear up this whole thing up by CLEARLY AND DIRECTLY answering a couple of very simple questions. Not by answering a questions with absurd questions that you think prove your point, but clearly and directly answering them:

1. Are "leftist loonies" SOLELY responsible for the "proliferation of the insanity" and rise of political violence in American society?

2. What responsibility/role, if any, does "MAGA loonies" (not talking about Trump alone, but MAGA followers/supporters/amplifiers), have
for the "proliferation of the insanity" and rise of political violence in American society?

First one is a very simply answered yes or no question.

Second one is a follow up depending upon your answer to the first.

Let's really test whether you're trolling or not.
1. Solely? Obviously not. Mainly? Obviously so.
2. The responsibility falls mainly on the right trolling the left incessantly over their insanity which compounds the insanity.

Yes, you and I both know I'm guilty of trolling the radicals around here. You should also be aware that I don't troll those who I respect as decent humans.

1. We disagree on "mainly". Very much so. I would say a more accurate and true statement would be "approximately equally" with MAGAstanis/Trump/"Loonie Rightist" whatever you want to call it.

If you don't troll those who you respect as decent humans, and I HOPE you are referring to me as a decent human.....

Are you ready to renounce/withdraw this statement you made about me, " If they'd done the same to anyone threatening Trump you'd be screaming about freedom of speech and threats to democracy."

That is absolutely not true, and I think you knew that when you posted it.

Question for the board....agree or disagree with this claim?

"Those who label the president as a fascist, as a threat to democracy, and compare him to Hitler to score political points are fueling this kind of violence".

Disagree

It is the language of Modern Politics...

And FYI I can pull about 200 more just like these examples.

I don't know why anyone would, or even could, disagree with this claim.

It does fuel this kind of violence. Is it the only or even the majority cause....no, not at all.

Our political rhetoric has worsened ,and what has been deemed acceptable, has increased over the last many years. It is not a left or right specific problem, but bad actors from both sides certainly contribute to fueling the violence.

Agree. People who compare Trump to Hitler fuels violence.

How many presidents since Hitler do you think have been compared to Hitler? It's way more prevalent the last decade but it's always been there.

If you want to argue it's more mainstream than say when Clinton was in office I would completely agree though.

Not sure. But I'll bet it fueled violence then too. It's hard to quantify though.

All of those statements, whether true or false, incite anger which can lead to violence in some people.

You are right it has worsened that last 10 years. In my lifetime have never had a president talk about people the way the current president does.

I should have said "they'd be screaming:.
Apologies.

Several of you have not watched enough House of Commons or Parliament in the UK

They been talking this type of mess about each other since Churchill

I would say, this level of violent and Rhetoric against elected officials is fairly common in mature Democracies

Calls of Violence and Threats in the UK House of Commons

Recent investigations and reports have highlighted a worrying rise in threats, abuse, and intimidation targeting MPs and election candidates, with some cases involving menacing or obscene phone calls.

Survey Findings on Abuse and Intimidation

CNN: "A new post from the White House Communications Director says that Kimmel is a 'shit human being' and called for him to be fired"

I wonder if the late-night talk shows were replaced by hosts always making fun of Democrats and saying things about them in poor taste would be a be hits. Trying that may be where it's headed.

CNN’s Kaitlan Collins calls out weird inconsistency in Trump-WHCD shooter’s arrest: ‘Raises questions’

Allen was in possession of two firearms — a 12-gauge pump action shotgun and a Rock Island Armory 1911 .38 caliber pistol — and several knives when he was arrested.

On Monday night’s edition of CNN’s The Source with Kaitlan Collins, Collins asked CNN senior law enforcement analyst Andrew McCabe about the conflicting information about how the suspect was stopped, and McCabe referenced the charging affidavit:

KAITLAN COLLINS: But when you see the surveillance video of him rushing the checkpoint. What we heard from Todd Blanche today, is he said the suspect — that law enforcement fired five shots.

When he was asked if the Secret Service agent who was shot was hit by the suspect’s weapon, he said it wasn’t clear, to follow up on what you said. I do think it raises questions about how exactly the suspect was stopped in this situation.

ANDREW MCCABE: Yes, we’ve gotten a lot of conflicting information about that. So notably, a witness who was within feet of him, when he hit the ground, told Wolf Blitzer this morning on these airways, that he just fell, he fell right at her feet. It’s interesting to me as well that the affidavit in support of the complaint, the charging document, says that he stopped. Does not–

COLLINS: Yes, it doesn’t clarify.

MCCABE: It doesn’t say that he was subdued, that he was arrested, that he was taken to the ground. It just says that he stopped.

COLLINS: Yes.

MCCABE: So, I’m not really sure why the Deputy Attorney General’s statements continue to kind of lead forward, kind of — getting out there ahead of the facts a little bit here. It’s a bit of an inconsistency, in terms of how the attacker was actually stopped.

COLLINS: Yes. I mean, this says that the officer drew his weapon, fired multiple times, he fell to the ground and suffered minor injuries, but was not ultimately shot.
The portion of the affadavit that McCabe referenced reads:

13. At approximately 8:40 p.m., ALLEN approached a security checkpoint on the Terrace Level of the hotel leading to the location of the dinner. ALLEN approached and ran through the magnetometer holding a long gun. As he did so, U.S. Secret Service personnel assigned to the checkpoint heard a loud gunshot. U.S. Secret Service Officer V.G. was shot once in the chest; Officer V.G. was wearing a ballistic vest at the time.

14. Officer V.G. drew his service weapon and fired multiple times at ALLEN, who fell to the ground and suffered minor injuries but was not shot. ALLEN was subsequently arrested.

In my view, this is the wrong question we should be asking. The question that should be asked is "does Donald Trump meet the criteria of a fascist leader?" The answer to this question makes your question and a few other questions that would follow very clear.

If he does, speaking the truth is paramount and is more important than a random/occasional act of violence. If it is just hyperbole, then your question would be the correct one to ask next, along with should speech be voluntarily curtailed across politics to avoid political violence.

Donald Trump's words, deeds and policies meet the threshold of fascism. I think the threat of not calling someone what they are is greater than the threat of a periodic attempted assassination by a (likely) mentally ill individual.
