I remember Blumenthal's lies well. Like my father, Blumenthal served in the military while the Vietnam War occurred, but never served overseas in Vietnam. However, multiple times while on the campaign trail for his first run as Senator he claimed he served "in Vietnam". He was caught on camera making this claim at least four different times.
That isn't an innocent mistake. There is absolutely no way my dad would ever introduce himself as serving in Vietnam. Blumenthal lied to make his resume look better and to deceive voters.
@JTOSUQ: Earlier this year, you sworn in two Republican members during the pro forma session. So why not swear in Adelita Grijalva, who was elected two weeks ago? Does it have to do with her being the 218th signature on the Epstein discharge petition?
Johnson: Look, we'll schedule it, I guess as soon as she wants.

I guess a different type of stolen valor, claiming helped troops when voted against it.My first thought on this subject is unlike Blumenthal, I never have heard of Josh Hawley's stolen valor. You will have to enlighten/educate me.
@JTOSU
Does currently avoiding swearing in a member of congress knowing she will vote to release records that could name pedophiles not seem as worthy of comment as a lie 15 years ago?
Just curious how you decide what really bothers you enough to post as there is one party doing virtually everything right now that you mostly ignore but the minority party that has zero power still raises your ire.
I do know what Blumenthal did. As I said he was in the military at the same time as my dad. They are both the exact same age. They both served in the military (albeit my dad in the army and he was in the reserves) while the Vietnam War was happening. As I stated there is zero chance my dad would say he fought in Vietnam. It wasn't a slip of the tongue by Blumenthal - he actively did it several times to boost his resume and lie while running for Senator.I googled senator lying and Hawley and Bloomenthal were cited as being dishonest today. Bloomenthal because of comments he made in the past and apologized for 15 years ago and Hawley for comments he made today.
Let's recap where we are. Currently you have mayors and governors coordinating efforts to keep the president from sending troops to attack their citizens. We are in a government shutdown where the president said today he wants to punish federal workers to get the opposition party to cave. The president also called the opposition party to insurrectionists, but he's been saying alot of things lately that make no sense-for example the other day he said he warned the Secretary of War about the danger bin Laden posed, only the Secretary would have been a 20 year old college student at the time. Heck, check out the word salad he said in a post a couple of spots above this one and ask yourself how you (or anyone) would have reacted if Biden made similar comments. Also we have a controversy in the house where the speaker is refusing to seat a new member because it means there may be a release of documents the white house wants buried. The same documents that the president while campaigning said he wanted the world to see and that the current AG (whose comments started this exchange) bragged that she had in hand before being told to not release them.
But through all of that your take on all this is some senator from Connecticut lied decades ago so that's what you focus on. I don't even know what he said-if it was really stolen valor than he deserved to be called out on it when it happened and apologize for his comments, which apparently he did years ago. If it was a partisan exaggeration (think what the right tried to say about when Walz chose to retire from the national guard) then it isn't worth mentioning decades after the fact. That one thing you found because of the person who simply asked a question the AG should have been prepared for is more important to you than all of the other stuff happening in Washington right now?
Commone man

Your 2nd paragraph has absolutely nothing to do with this subject. C'mon man!
Maybe be curious about yourself and understand why you feel the need to whatabout someone lying about their military service.
The side that I am on? What side is that?LOL, your complaint is about something that pre-dates common usage of that term.
Maybe we should call it necro-whataboutism.
Or, necro-partisanship, when the side that you are on is in complete control and doing everything so badly that you won't discuss it so the only thing you can find to whine about is decades old.
I guess a different type of stolen valor, claiming helped troops when voted against it.
This part I believeI cannot help you.
The side that I am on? What side is that?
Yep. My views have been consistent my entire life.Everyone here but you knows exactly what side you are on based on your posts. Please, if ANYONE believes they don't know, respond and tell me.
Then this must really chap your hideYep. My views have been consistent my entire life.
I’ve always been on the side of citizens for lower taxes, less government, and individual freedoms.
So yes you should be able to know that from my posts.
