My guess if hes deeply involved: He thought he could just doctor the documents and call it good. When someone explained to him that forensics is more than something on CSI he just decided to lie his way out of it.
I think it was always a mutually assured destruction kind of thing. Like US and Ruskies. Problem is he underestimated the bat sh!+ crazies on his side and always assumed once he won they would fall in line. At this point he’s trying hard but some of the bat sh!+ is uncontained. I really think Bongino was gone over the weekend and promises were made. Bongino leaves and this thing gets a little more interesting.
I also think you could have other forces at play & neither are the Democrats.
First are the Tech bros. They were/are the reason we have Couch Vance as VP. They are binary thinkers and Trump has served his purpose.
Second are the Theo bros (Christian Nationalists). They have no need for democracy and certainly no need for someone tainted w pedophilea. At some point they were/are always going to discard Trump.
There is almost nothing going his way right now. Not has much gone his way the 1st 6 months. The BBB was always going to pass. It’s now just a matter of how much damage does it do.
I really expect him to fire Powell by the end of the week to change the conversation and then do something Monday morning to capture the conversation.
My guess is he was totally focused on getting elected and was using anything to do it….and thought he would be bulletproof after getting elected and could just lie/blame shift his way out of it 100%…..and even if he couldn’t, he’s still President and Grifter in Chief making that cold hard cash.
