Trump 47

I'm not going to speak for all vets, but from my perspective, there are some huge "it depends" that we can't really know. If the guy has sincerely changed his ways and wants to bring Syria forward as an inclusive democracy, then we need to give him that chance. If he is harboring terrorism and just wants the sanctions gone, then no.
How bout we make him prove that prior to our president blowing smoke up his @$$ live to the world

The literal only thing they did was tell Trump the day before he lifted sanctions was announced they wanted to build a Trump property in Damascus

And Mango Mussolini was in his crib taking shop the NEXT DAY

A person in the actual terrorist watch list offered to have our POTUS company build one of his properties in thier country and the next day our POTUS lifts sanctions and is splashed across the world shaking his hand and calling him handsome and all kinds of weird crap

Over 7k US soldiers lost their lives and 54,000 were wounded in a 20 year war against Terror that we spent $2 Trillion on.....so Trump could just embrace someone still considered a top enemy of that wars top watch list and suddenly expect the country to support that too..all because they promised to put Trump's name on a building in their country

We probably should have waited until Syria finished creating their constitution and the new government has showed a bit more of what it will be. But I'm OK with cutting sanctions on a country trying to rebuild from a decade plus of civil war and battling ISIS and establish a new government with a warning that they are essentially on a probationary period and any civil rights issues or terrorism support would lead to immediate restart of sanctions. That's not how it happened and doesn't appear to be the reason but I don't know what was said in private

I want to defend the guy but the quid pro quo is really problematic. You have our President going country to country on a personal treasure hunt and that is just messed up.

That being said, the world watched the Zelensky meeting and for alot of countries the take home message was kiss the dudes butt and you get what you want. I can't blame al-Sharaa for doing what he knows will get the result he and his people want. They have spent over a decade in a civil war and need to rebuild. Getting investment from the west and legitimizing his government are top priorities and he was able to accomplish that. I don't want to make light of his past but him sucking up to Trump is a far better outcome than Syria turning to Iran or other hostile nations for assistance.

The Department of Homeland Security is planning on a new Gulfstream V jet, an agency official confirmed Wednesday, after Rep. Lauren Underwood (D-Illinois) said the plane could cost up to $50 million from the U.S. Coast Guard’s budget.

Can someone please remind him the White House isn't a palace nor shpuld it ever be. Making it one is a waste of money. Government buildings should be nice, comfortable and in good condition, they should not be ostentatious.

I think we can at least afford some more comfortable furniture. The White House chairs and couches all look like the things Grandma had at the edge of the dining room that no one would ever sit in.

NEW: U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi sold between $1 million and $5 million worth of Trump Media stock the same day Trump unveiled new tariffs that caused the stock market to plummet, according to records obtained by ProPublica.

Hey those chairs and couches have seen history. Think about all they have seen from the Regean administration. Think about what was done in them during the Clinton administration.

Maybe don't think about that last one.

Some of America's greatest music and legends of music were born out of tines of protest songs

Looks like we might start reaching the next protest musical era soon

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band began their Land of Hope & Dreams tour with forceful messages about the “treasonous” Trump administration.

Yea! More PFAS. MAHA and all that stuff.......

Trump EPA narrows, delays PFAS drinking water regulation

The Environmental Protection Agency is narrowing and delaying its drinking water regulations for toxic “forever chemicals.”

Exposure to these chemicals, also known as PFAS, has been linked to health issues including cancer, kidney and thyroid issues, weakened immune systems and fertility issues.

In 2024, the Biden administration set the first-ever limits on six types of PFAS. It said at the time that its action would reduce exposure to PFAS for about 100 million people, preventing 9,600 deaths and nearly 30,000 illnesses in the coming decades.

The Trump administration announced on Wednesday it will “rescind and reconsider” filtration requirements for four of those six PFAS.

Honestly, I think this article hits on something important. And, no, I don't think that every Trump supporter feels this way nor do I think Trump haters are immune to it. But, I do think it is a key voter block. I also think he is right in that the democrats play it exactly wrong.

MAGA voters are willing to suffer, as long as they can watch others suffer more

“Why do they vote against their own interests?”

You have probably said this many times over the last decade when it came to some Republican voters. We have watched as they said no to educational, health care, environmental, wage and economic improvements while voting for politicians who seem hell-bent on keeping them in their current position, no matter how bad it may be.
....
The answer to this is pretty simple. Trump voters are okay with suffering, as long as other people hurt more. To them, it shows that the status quo is being preserved and the changes to America that they fear are being mitigated. And the Democrats and media help by letting them know the status quo is being preserved.

An example:

If illegals are terrible people because they sell drugs, rape, steal, terrorize and murder, why give them a break from justice to pick on this young woman? You don't need to be a liberal or a conservative to ask that question. I wonder how many criminal warrants are still out for illegal immigrants. Just don't terrorize innocent people whenever priorities shift toward the real criminals.

Other than driving without a license, she was totally innocent.
