The way I interpret Trump rejecting the EU offer is that he thinks the US needs a positive trade balance with every country, which is, quite frankly, insane. Like real bananas, delusional.

Even if it were possible to do, you'd have to 'unmake' the current world and particularly American society.

I'm gonna be straight with you all, I don't like where this is heading. Getting the zero for zero deal should have been what we were striving for. I thought 'there's no way he's actually going to try to right-size trade imbalances, this is one of his games'. But no, it seems that he is serious. Sends legitimate shivers up my spine.

We have the market swinging wildly right now with intra-day shifts in the billions of dollars. It can't take this stress forever and eventually the floor is gonna give out.

Why? That was what we asked people to do, and was an actual good idea. Submit online and stay in your country while you are vetted. People can argue the numbers let in, but that provided a legal path that didn't tax border agents.

Not sure how legal this is. We do this is other countries when we have international support against groups that are widely considered terrorists, not criminal organizations. Not sure what the Mexican response will be if we kill any civilians, without their involvement and blessing of each strike.

Fully support blowing the crap out of the cartels if we do it with Mexican support, but that is a must.

Reuters pay walls me for most articles nowadays so I can't read the details.

I'm assuming it's searching communications across government devices. If it's searching social media and looking for comments made as a private citizen and not tied back to the government or their position then that is super sketchy.

This interview on the Daily Show Jon Stewart has w Oren Cass is pretty good at explaining one perspective on what is trying to be accomplished. Oren is a policy advisor w a conservative think tank. Pretty respectful interview.
