Trump 47

He actually isn’t.

I thought you were. I never lumped you in with the two morons.

Maybe I was wrong.
I think you are being a bit harsh here.
I've always thought his opinions were pretty reasonable, even when I didn't agree. Seems better to leave the creating enemies out of reasonable people to Trump. While I can understand people fearing the entirety of the executive actions and what they might be doing to our nation, given the financial mess that our nation has become, I can also see people hopeful that there is some good with the bad. I don't think either of those is "Nazi." And, I am saying this on the back of an incredibly stressful week based on the executive actions and what it has done to my workplace.

Of course, don't listen to me. I just saw that according to a survey of my colleagues, I am in the least happy and most out of balance club:

Maybe I was harsher than I should have been. I'll have to look back at all this tomorrow with a fresher set of eyes.

Several years ago, when there was the scandal about Hillary having a private server, I think it was @Stillwaterman who was really upset over the issue. I respected his opinion and it impacted how I viewed it. Fast forward to now and we have Musk taking some of the same issues a step further. I think if you think the Secretary of State, arguably the most important cabinet member in the executive branch, shouldn't have a private server, then you should be just as upset about someone with no congressional oversight having this level of access to private data. Yet Musk seems to get a pass from many because he plays for the same team. People are willing to sacrifice their integrity pretty quickly just because some rich guy bankrolled the right candidate.

Yes, calling people nazis is "a bit harsh".

But it's a lot easier than actually taking the time to see what is going on and that there is actually a reason for all this "nazism".

From Musk:
"To be clear, what the DOGE team and US Treasury have jointly agreed makes sense in the following:
- Require that all outgoing government payments have a payment categorization code, which is necessary in order to pass financial audits. This is frequently left blank, making audits almost impossible.
- All payments must also include a rationale for the payment in the comment field, which is currently left blank. Importantly, we are not yet applying ANY judgment to this rationale, but simply requiring that SOME attempt be made to explain the payment more than NOTHING!
- The DO-NOT-PAY list of entities known to be fraudulent or people who are dead or are probable fronts for terrorist organizations or do not match Congressional appropriations must actually be implemented and not ignored. Also, it can currently take up to a year to get on this list, which is far too long. This list should be updated at least weekly, if not daily.
The above super obvious and necessary changes are being implemented by existing, long-time career government employees, not anyone from DOGE. It is ridiculous that these changes didn’t exist already!
Yesterday, I was told that there are currently over $100B/year of entitlements payments to individuals with no SSN or even a temporary ID number. If accurate, this is extremely suspicious.
When I asked if anyone at Treasury had a rough guess for what percentage of that number is unequivocal and obvious fraud, the consensus in the room was about half, so $50B/year or $1B/week!!
This is utterly insane and must be addressed immediately."

How did your job situation work out?

How did your job situation work out?
I was put on an exclusion list, so cannot take the "deal" that was sent to me by email. I have not been told what will happen with me. They say they can put me anywhere within a 50-mile radius. My parent station is in Colorado so theoretically they could tell me I need to report there, but I have not heard of that happening to anyone.

Everyone is talking about the "buyout" but the important part to me is the VERA, which is a full early retirement. It is somewhat frustrating that the people doing jobs that the government feels it can do without are getting a bunch of pay and then, presuming they qualify, a much-better-than-normal retirement package forever. Meanwhile, those of us doing the work that must be done get excluded from any reward and a more difficult work situation.

Thought about you several times this week.. I really do hope it works out for you.

That's messed up.

That's messed up.
Thanks. Yea, I was pretty bummed earlier in the week as I'm thinking man, I could have retired with a full retirement this year, instead I have to keep working until next year to even get a smaller retirement. But, I've just had to accept what I sort of knew would be true, that they aren't gonna pay off doctors and nurses to leave. It was too-good-to-be true. At this point, I'm (retirement wise) in the same boat I was always in. So I just have to quit worrying about it.

my brother, who is a maga, and his wife elected to not take the buyout, ¨We aren´t doing it. There is a LOT of confusion right now. More questions than answers.¨
