Trump 47

I know whataboutism is the cool new term, but when a party completely works to conceal the condition of a president for years on end starts to lecture the other party about "not ignoring the signs" almost immediately after losing power.... It just doesn't carry much weight.

And I understand the argument that I should still be concerned, and I agree. We should have some sort of standardized cognitive testing for all high-ranking officials.

But in this tribal world of politics the above isn't how people think. Both sides will continue to leverage off the other sides stupid in order to get away with being what they are. We live in the whataboutism.

Sorry, I'm having some trouble with this. Wouldn't this be like a cop that shot himself accidentally giving lectures on gun safety and the audience thinking, "I can understand the gun safety argument, but being that this guy already shot himself, his argument doesn't carry any weight with me."

Having just seen themselves lose to someone that really had no business winning, I don't see many democrats proud of sticking with a declining candidate for far too long.

Get back to me when there is wall to wall coverage about trump being too old, like there was with Biden (until he dropped out of the race).
Biden was considered too old for another term. Since he is 4 years older than Trump we will have to wait for that coverage to begin when Donald runs again. Until then...

We caught on to Biden about 3 years to late.

So it’s time to start taking a hard look at the stable genius tweeting out insanity and hallucinations of $1.98 gas.

You know if Trumps twitter account didn't have his name on it pedophiles would be trying to meet up with him for underage sex.

Although your analogy is interesting, I don’t think your analogy addresses the point.
The point I think @Stillwaterman was making was that the Democrat Party and media friendlies were the one covering up Biden’s mental decline. There was nothing accidental about what they did. They were doing it for political gain or to protect their political persuasion.
A few who ignored or covered up, although certainly not many, are trying to make a claim about Trump’s mental status. I think it is very fair to say if Joe Scarborough, Ana Navarro, Oliver Darcy, or Jen Psaki make a statement on Trump’s mental status that their opinion should not hold much weight.

Tapper’s book below points out several times, including at his own CNN, that media blamed “right-leaning media outlets” for videos showing Biden freezing at the podium. Karine Jean-Pierre famously called two of them “cheap fakes” when we all know now they were real videos.

We have had the current problem of covering for presidential mental states for awhile now. President Reagan had Alzheimer's Disease while in office. President Trump in an objective evaluation was temporarily mentally impaired. President Biden was impaired. So, they are worse than we are does not work for me. Mental competency standards and testing on an annual basis with standardized testing would certainly be reassuring, at least for me.

Even if my cop purposely shot himself, that does not in any way change the gun safety argument.

How exactly are you determining the people who were covering it up vs the people that were told things by the administration or had things similar to "let's remove the transcripts" occur? So, Tapper writes a book and he is now on the outsider list?

The weight is based on what he is doing, not who is saying it. Declaring something false based on where it came from is a typical Trump tactic that you are taking part in.

Basically, your argument is two wrongs make a right.

Good idea, but who administers it? Based on past history, I don’t think I would trust Trump’s Dr. Ronny Jackson or Biden’s Dr. Kevin O’Conner.

It is fine to argue for gun safety…it is a far different argument to claim that someone is not being safe with guns.

There are standardized tests that could be administered by neuropsychologists who specialize in testing. I know some will only trust the results they want but objectively the time of day, day of week, location of where you are etc. is objective data.

I agree it is objective data. And I agree with need for testing.
Just pointing out Jackson’s notes about Trump’s height and weight did not equate to what our eyes can see. And similarly with O’Conner stating Biden was mentally fit and stating neurologists don’t see a need for a cognitive assessment.
