Yeah. I don't like this but I can understand the "official" reason for it.

Based on my experience there are freight companies based in Kansas that will employ drivers with limited English skills and their rates tend to be cheaper than their counterparts. I'm guessing that has something to do with this.
The reason behind how it was sold was as a public safety issue . Basically if truck drivers can't read and write the language then they assume they can't read and follow traffic signs and know or obey traffic laws

And most trucking companies ask on resumes if you CAN understand the English language because of this...anf to get your CDL I think I have to say you know the English language.and Arkansas has now made it a felony for any Non American truck drivers working in the US to have gotten the job as a truck driver by claiming they knew the English language in their hiring forms but actually can't pass a test in the language... basically saying they lied in their application and that is a felony in Arkansas now

I'll try to do better for you. 👍

Then the next step will be for all drivers to pass a spoken and written English test.

Falling for fake news: The criminal complaint was from last week (April 18th) and filed yesterday.

They recently released her. Not sure timing of that compared to the post.

It looks like the timing is in like with what you are stating, I will take the initial post down.

I have seen multiple places that they did not have a warrant for the undocumented person however, including a statement by the Judge in question.

ICE did not have warrant for Mahmoud Khalil’s arrest - now Homeland Security claims ‘they did not need one’

ICE agents did not have a warrant when they detained Columbia University student Mahmoud Khalil, court documents have said.

Khalil, 30, was stripped of his green card and arrested in front of his then-eight-month-pregnant wife in New York City on March 8. He was transferred to an ICE detention center in Louisiana, almost 1,300 miles away. There have been international calls for his release since then, with Khalil even denied the right to attend the birth of his child on April 21.

But amid ongoing backlash the Department of Homeland Security is now arguing a warrant was not needed before the arrest, alleging Khalil was a “flight risk” in claims his supporters branded ‘absurd’.

“Khalil was encountered by ICE officers and identified as a removable alien,” a DHS spokesperson said. “When he tried to walk away, he was arrested.

“An administrative arrest warrant was executed at the time of his booking, as is the custom. Khalil is arguing in immigration court that an arrest warrant is necessary prior to the arrest of a removable alien. There's no legal basis for that position.”

Khalil’s arrest in March was prompted by his involvement in a series of protests against Israel’s bombardment of Gaza. On the night of his arrest, ICE agents said they were acting on State Department orders to revoke Khalil’s student visa.

In a document filed in Newark federal court, a lawyer for the DHS said agents conducting surveillance of Khalil were notified he could be removed from the country ‘because his presence or activities would have serious adverse foreign policy consequences for the United States’.

Yeah, the new law may not even be necessary if the trucking company's insurance policy requires drivers hired to know English.
like was posted earlier...the end game target here isn't Truck Drivers....it is just the entry point for this....at some point they will claim it is sooo good for Truck Drivers they will expand it to ALL citizens driving on their roads and then ALL citizens stopped by police in Arkansas will be subject to an English Proficiency Test and can simply pick up a Felony just for being a tourist and not knowing the language 100%.

I mean I can fly to Scottland today, Rent a car and Drive away and do what ever I want and drive what ever I want.....can you imagine if you did that and the Scottish Police pulled you over and gave you a written test on the Scots Language...written and Verbal and were going to arrest you and charge you with a Felony if you failed it??
