Fury in UK as JD Vance insults British Veterans and Military on Fox News Monday Night

Vice President J.D. Vance has caused a new international incident by lobbing insults at the United States' top ally.

Britons of all political stripes are denouncing Vance after he described their nation as "some random country that hasn't fought a war in 30 or 40 years" during an appearance on Fox News Monday night.

Of course, British troops fought side by side with American soldiers in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and The Sun notes that 636 U.K. soldiers died fighting in both wars.

"Vance needs to wind his neck in," said former Veterans Minister Johnny Mercer. “Show a bit of respect and stop making yourself look so unpleasant.”

Shadow Defense Secretary James Cartlidge, meanwhile, accused Vance of being "deeply disrespectful for ignoring such service and sacrifice" of U.K. troops.

Ex-Armed Forces Minister and veteran James Heappey reflected on his own military service and said that "serving with America and France were defining moments of my military career" and then added that it was "sad to hear the relationship reduced to this."

Veteran and Democrat MP Helen Maguire also delivered a scathing denunciation of Vance's remarks.

"I saw firsthand how American and British soldiers fought bravely together shoulder to shoulder," she said. "Six of my own regiment, the Royal Military Police, didn’t return home from Iraq. This is a sinister attempt to deny that reality."

Trump's 'Gold Card' Would Offer Tax Benefit Unavailable to Americans

President Donald Trump's proposed Gold Card visa for the rich could offer a tax incentive that other immigration pathways currently don't, experts say.

The $5 million "Green Card plus," as Trump and his Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick touted in the Oval Office last week, would allow holders to avoid paying U.S. tax on their overseas income—an option not currently open to citizens or immigrants in the country.

Ultra Conservative National Review Editorial Says Trump has a fear of dying from advanced age or murder is driving his chaotic second term.

A National Review editorial asserted this week that President Donald Trump’s fear of dying from advanced age or murder is driving his chaotic second term.

“Trump is old and was two inches from involuntarily landscaping greater Pennsylvania with his grey matter,” the Review’s Luther Ray Abel wrote, referring to the assassination attempt on Trump that left him with a bullet-grazed ear in July.

“While a retired professor friend of mine scoffed at the notion that a handful of assassination attempts have goaded Trump, I’m confident that his lizard brain has computed the probability of surviving his term despite age and act of terror and decided that he will do everything in his power to be remembered as a reformer/martyr,” the writer continued.

No specifics were mentioned but Trump has drawn concern and anger over his cutting of federal jobs with Elon Musk as his hatchet man; his antagonism toward allies such as Ukraine, Mexico and Canada; his perceived allegiance to Russian President Vladimir Putin; and his efforts to bully the press.

In its assessment that Trump has a grim mindset, the editorial accused the president of being “melodramatic,” but “that’s his shtick.”

“He saw the way Biden moldered until he was so incapacitated that he was loaded in a wheelbarrow and rolled off to Delaware; Trump took a look at that and said, “Sorry old b******, that’s not for me.”

The writer also cited Trump’s “done-now” attitude and choice of a running mate, Vice President JD Vance, who will not push back at his boss’ initiatives, as factors behind his lack of “restraint.”

Trump, 78, might clarify further where he’s at during his address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday.

So, I wonder what defines an "illegal protest".

This is the kind of stuff I really don't like about Trump.

If they're doing something against the law, arrest and prosecute them. Don't make sweeping statements on social media about what you may deem as "illegal".
We all kind of know how Trump will define an "illegal protest", don't we?

It's any protest that he doesn't agree with.

That's the kind of stuff I don't like about Trump.

Why is it with every stupid tweet or statement Trump makes we see a close to crazy overstatement? In this last few pages, we have people opine that mid-term elections will be canceled and now martial law by end of year.
Because the person making the stupid tweet or statement on social media is an absolute authoritarian that has already well over-reached his Constitutional authority and is ignoring and getting rid of checks and balances throughout the government that might have leverage to stop him along with the courage to do it.

While I don't personally believe mid-terms will be cancelled or there will be martial law by the end of the year.....when the authoritarian President of the country post memes on his own social media alluding to him being King and makes statements he has, maybe some people are taking him seriously with regards to following through with his threats.

He's actively attempting to make people afraid of what he might do. Some people are going to be reasonably afraid that he will do what he says.

Would your office prosecute someone who was simply protesting ?
No. Obviously. Of course, I take my oath of to the Constitution and to public service seriously.

That doesn't mean certain Sheriffs in Oklahoma (not in my counties), Idaho, and other states wouldn't round up and arrest people for simply protesting.

Hell, there were red county Sheriffs in America that were part of and/or encouraging the Jan. 6 storming of the Capitol.

I don't see a reason to get rid of the checks in DOD (both via legal and chain of command means) without having a goal of doing something that will be potentially illegal and wildly unpopular. I.e., You don't fire lawyers if you care about following the law. To me that shows where he wants to go.

I keep telling myself that someone will stop him if he tries to do something bad, but I don't know who would step up. He loves authoritarians and admires their ability to do what they want. Who is going to stop him from being one? How do they maintain control? Oppression, generally through military and police force.
