The Steross Market and Investing Thread

I don't know, I think sometimes our government is so enormous and the problems so widespread that anytime someone mentions a single good idea everyone else muddles it up with their alternative concerns and then nothing happens.

While all of these other things are issues, do you really expect congress to tackle all of that at once?

I like the idea of the people telling congress, enough is enough, too many of you make more money than professional traders proving that you are inappropriately using your position, it must stop. Then when that issue is done, pick the next and get going on it.
Agreed.

It brings to mind the old saying, “How do you eat a whole elephant? One bite at a time.”

You have to take that first bite to get started though. If you focus on the whole elephant from the start, you’re never going to atually start eating.

You mean I can’t just snap my fingers and make it happen? Darn it. 😂

It’s everywhere. How dumb would you feel if a NIL kid right out of high school makes more money in a year than my wife and I made in 70 years combined in education? Talk about inflation.

It's always funny to me that people like to point to Pelosi as the head of insider trading. She hasn't been at the top for years. But as long as they can make this a partisan issue, nothing will ever change.
Both parties do it... openly. It needs to end. No one in a high public office that has information unavailable to everyone else and ability to impact entire markets (or their families) should be allowed anywhere near the stock market, either individual stock or even sector funds.

As a federal employee, I can't have any investments with any companies within the industry I work in and have to disclose all my investments every year, and yet the elected folks aren't held to the same ethical standards. It's just a wee bit frustrating.

As a civilian employee that works with the government, I have to disclose all holdings over a certain amount because of a fear it may bias how we advise the government (even though my work doesn't involve those types of decisions).

Yes super frustrating the double standard that we live in. Apparently if you get elected to any federal position, all laws essentially don't apply.

I've had Nvidia for about 7 years now, haven't really planned on selling for a long time. Until deepseek came along and crapped on everybody's day.
