I wouldn't be surprising that asking for grant money to build a pedestrian bridge across Highway 51 was felt to be inappropriate.

That can’t be the reason to get rid of the university president. They could just say no to the proposal.

Eyes and ears won't do much good, facts are needed and those probably aren't forth coming from any of the parties involved. Doubt the BOR acted without good reason or concern for direction something of importance was going.

Anything is possible. Since OSU is a public entity everything should be open and transparent. To hell with political correctness or hurt feelings. As most all of us have been told by parents and/or grandparents don't do things you don't want the world to know, especially mom and grandma!

I believe so. A year ago or so OSU came out w an announcement that they were initiating fund raising and grant funding to turn the land on the se corner of 6th & Sangre into a research area and “park”. Aside from the announcement I haven’t seen anything else. For a quick minute an excavator was on site at the barn and there was discussion on raising/rebuild or leaving the bones and renovating.

That’s the incubation facility I recall, but I’ve been out of Stillwater for awhile now.

IIRC, the land across 51 from the Botanical Garedens is a creek with a bunch of old huge cottonwoods that’d be pretty costly to develop.

That area is also in the middle of the floodplain, which is why nobody has ever developed it and it's still just a creek with a bunch of huge old cottonwoods like it has been for decades.

Still don’t understand this being “the reason” but the more you guys talk about it, maybe it was in fact a really stupid suggestion that would have clearly been a misuse of funds? Still, just reject the proposal and move on.

I’m with you-terrible idea imo, but can’t be the reason behind this situation.
Flying back to Stillwater this weekend so I’m anxious to talk to some folks about the state of things.
