Ryan Walters submits Oklahoma education budget. Ask for $47 Million CUT in education spending

Huh? Walters blames rampant inflation on Biden. Yet, he responds to the situation by cutting education by $47 million. Walters doesn't have critical thinking skills. Instead, he has senseless far right conservative thinking skills. According to the article below not even Gov. Stitt likes it.

Supt. Walters responded, "What we have right now is rampant inflation due to the Biden Administration, and what we have are agencies that just continue to ask for more money. We are continuing to keep flat the investment in the classroom, but what we're not going to continue to do is keep asking for more money every single year."

Besides due to inflation, maybe schools are asking for more money because there are more and more students coming in. Not all the growth is concentrated in suburbia.

From what I read Stitt was VERY MUCH against this and he even said part of his legacy was that he was THE GOV that had expanded spending on Education in Oklahoma greater than any other Gov in Oklahoma history.

If Stitt considers that his legacy as he said in an interview last night on the news, and he flatly also said he was against this move by Walters.

Walters is directly attacking what Stitt considers his Legacy. This is about to get messy and fast.

It’s already messy, and this will get worse

So inflation is running rampant so things cost more. So in response to that we are going to ask for less money to cover those things that have went up in price? About as transparent as you can get about your goal to run public education into the ground. Oklahoma is already pretty close to the ground as is.

Today’s OK GOP is running the biggest bait and switch scam and are pretty close to getting away w it to the long term detriment of OK.

We have one of the least burdensome effective tax rates when you look at income/sales/excise. We have one of the lowest corporate tax rates. We have one of the lowest gasoline taxes. And we are smack in the middle on property taxes.

We have the 15th lowest utility rates.
So why don’t businesses locate here? It’s because we won’t invest in education and I mean really invest and our infrastructure is some combination of shite or toll. Take Tulsa for example. What major city can you truck to out of Tulsa where you don’t pay a toll?

But Republicans continue to try and convince that cutting taxes and their version of God in the OK classroom will fox all our problems.

I wonder how far to the extreme Oklahoma Republicans will want to go next year. At least some of them, I think, can't be described as far right Christian extremists. A lot of Oklahoma Republicans won't be happy until all state income tax is zero. Anyway, Republicans in the special session ought to at least figure out a way to cut sales tax on groceries, considering food inflation. Orange juice is the next thing going up a lot in price. The state economy doesn't seem to be slowing down, so the timing should be right to cut some sort of tax.

Texas ranks very low in education but has been able to grow fast. Probably in large part because there is so many more millions of people than in Oklahoma.
