Are there any concerns over the number of players we have entering the portal? I had been hoping that we would be able to keep more of the young talent that was forced to play this year? Do we have any hints at players who might be looking at OSU outside of UNT transfers?

Are we surprised that Hauss Hejny has not announced that he will enter the portal? Any thoughts on what this might mean about OSU getting Mestemaker?
 
I thought I heard our AD say that we may end up with as many as 80 new players next year. That will make it tough to have a winning season, most probably. I think we will return to the days of needing to score 45+ per game to have a good chance of winning. Not impossible with an inexperienced team, but it can't be easy either.

Hoping for a large influx of players on North Texas to help soften the blow.

Regardless, I'm convinced we're on the right path and I'm behind them all the way, no matter what.

It may mean that Hauss is not afraid of a little competition for the job. I'm not that sold on Mestemaker from what I've seen.

Who would you have realistically wanted to keep? There’s maybe eight, ten guys at most when I look at the roster. The rest were the same guys who led us to our worst season in forever. Thanks for being cowboys and good luck at your next stop, but I’m hoping we can upgrade.

You never know what is going on behind the scenes, a lot of these guys are probably being told they no longer have a place here, or they are being offered less NIL than they got last year. I’m a little surprised by some of the young receivers, knowing the offense that is coming in, but maybe the staff has evaluated and determined they can get better.

One thing I think we can be confident in is this staff knows how to evaluate talent. Several of these N Texas guys are going to be in high demand, not just DM and Hawkins, and I’m not convinced they’ll all just follow the staff. We’ve got to remember though that this staff found most of those guys and will do the same here.

Not sold on the national passing leader? If you are worried about it translating, he has more yards, TDs, less INTs than his predecessor Morris did last year, and Morris nearly took VA, who hasn’t been good in years, to the playoff.

Henjy may not officially be in the portal but supposedly his Dad has been shopping him for 1.3 mil, which is crazy for a guy that has barely been on the field and injured both years of college. I was a fan of his and really wanted to see him play, but if they bring him back it needs to be at a discount until he shows what he can do and stay healthy.

No, not sold given what I’ve seen the last two games. Small sample size, I know. Bowl game: 27/47, 250 yards, 3 td, 2 int. I hope he signs with the Pokes and takes us to the tournament, but no I’m not sold.
 
I have no inside knowledge of his situation, but would HCEM go after Byrd Ficklin (not in portal yet) at Utah? He is from Muskogee and offered by HCEM at North Texas and his head coach is now gone.
 
I've only heard unsubstantiated rumors. a few things:
a coach said - potentially could make a couple of million dollars next year
He loves EM, if money right could follow.
Also heard the Death Star may have a light on him as the TT QB is "graduating" and he fits the system.
Would really like to get him but, it is what is it now
