OSU Vs UNT - NIT Quarterfinals Tues 8pm

NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 is 100% power conference.

Curious a decade from now if you go back and look at a 30 yr history if this is the trend or if this season is an outlier.

This season is an outlier. The Vegas tournament took a bunch of non tournament P4 teams out of the mix. I think there was something like 4 P4 teams invited to the NIT.

Plus I'm guessing more NCAA bids went to major conference teams than normal. It's hard to let traditional one-two bid leagues get an extra team in when over a dozen SEC schools got an invite.

I think this may be the new norm with the exception of Gonzaga and a couple of the Big East teams.

And when a team from a mid-major breaks into the Sweet Sixteen. That coach and their star players will not be back the next year to give it another go. No more Butler, VCU, and Wichita States that can make noise for a couple years in a row, because they were able to keep their coaches/players.
