That’s pitch on Shull cannot be a strike with the sweeping curve also being a strike…..

That is, and has always been, my biggest complaint with umpires. The zone is the zone. It doesn’t get to expand or change based on the situation in the ball game in the crowd. If you establish that sweeping curve is a strike then the pitch on Shull cannot be.
