OC and DC Possibilities - New DC Todd Grantham, OC Doug Meacham

And I a bunch of us will know you’re wrong. Live with it. Or don’t. I don’t care.
If you don't care why do you keep responding...

Listen I don't have anything against you Cptn, and I usually enjoy your posts, but just because someone posted something on the premium side of a message board doesn't make it true, and if RA is spewing it I am even more skeptical.

I could post that Chip Kelly was set to take the job, but once again it doesn't make it true. College Football is a big boy business, with big boy salaries. I don't think anyone worth their salt would back out because of the mean old board of regents. They get paid the big bucks because nothing is guaranteed.

Well if RA pretty much confirmed it, it must be true...

Several people keep spreading rumors, but no one will say who this mysterious OC is who committed, but then backed out because of the BOR. I wonder why?

The guy you quoted is one who would know without having to find out on a message board. Just saying

The popular rumor was Joe Craddock from Tulane was on a plane and turned around mid air…LOL! Ridiculous I know. There was also rumors about Collin Klein, because he’s feeling the heat at A&M, and then Jordan Davis at N. Texas. This is all from Gundy mouth pieces like RA who will do anything they can to protect him from criticism. They’re trying to use the 24hr kerfuffle with the BoR as a distraction/scapegoat.

The fact is Gundy should have been identifying and pursuing his new OC and DC for weeks before the end of the season, and then acted immediately when the season ended, like ou, like Florida St, or Utah, Texas Tech, etc. All of those schools filled their coordinator positions before OSU even announced firings of the previous coordinators! Had he done that we wouldn’t even be talking about this.

I don't want any assistant football coach that is too scared to coach at OSU because of the board of regents, and I don't want to belong to any premium message board that would accept me as a member.

Why do you say the Craddok rumor is ridiculous? Were you there?

I have a pretty good propaganda detector…HA! Not saying he wasn’t a target or they didn’t reach out to him, but the “done deal” on the plane story until the BoR meeting doesn’t pass the smell test for numerous reasons. Isn’t that a convenient story when your D coordinator candidate was coming from the same city? And when is the last time Gundy successfully lured a top level coordinator candidate?

Im not even going to pretend to defend the Nardo hire, but the two previous DC's before him were top level hires. Dunn obviously didn't work out but it was a promotion of a long time and valuable assistant who had at the time had an OC offer elsewhere. I don't remember many complaints about his promotion then. The guy before him was a mistake but I wouldn't consider that a terrible hire.

As far as you having a pretty good propaganda detector. You are the one putting a bunch of garbage out here, so yeah takes one to know one.

The BoR called the meeting because it was clear Gundy, Strum, and Weiberg were not acting. BoR sat for 4 days before calling that meeting, waiting for the leaders of the university to act in the best interest of the university. They were met with crickets, so acted. I have little faith that serious changes were coming without that meeting. Do not care “who was on a plane”, rumors or W/E. The massive overhaul is what was needed, not necessarily 2 new play callers.

We have turned over just about every single position coach. New blood was needed and I’m hoping to see some new approaches to a significant portion of our approach to the season and philosophies.

We have our guys now. Let’s ride. If it doesn’t work out, then the admin should act accordingly and steer the ship towards a new horizon.

I don't have insider info, I'm not knowledgeable in the inner workings of college football coaching and I do not know personally anyone who does. I just find it hard to believe that not one, not two, but three OC's turned down the job because of a BOR meeting.

What specifically about the meeting caused this? Gundy being on the hot seat, heck that's just part of the business, you didn't need the meeting to know that. Reworking Gundy's contract to free up money for NIL, that sounds like something a coordinator would like. Forcing Gundy to not interfere with his assistants as much, again that sounds like something a potential OC would like. So what was it?

Maybe it's all true, maybe it's all bunk, i don't know. What I do know is that while the rest of the college football world was moving forward, firing and hiring, we heard nothing but crickets from our program. I was glad the BOR stepped in to apparently force the changes that needed to be happening and I've seen nothing to change my mind about that. Go Pokes.

The meeting was scheduled on Tuesday. Everyone knew what the topic was so the assertion that someone didn’t get clued in until the last minute seems unlikely. The only way a coach that was en route turned back is if it was another DIII inexperienced guy that the BoR vetoed. But I think the real truth is that the Gundy camp (and possibly the Weiberg/Shrum camps) is gaslighting us and sadly a few of us fell for it. I do think as the smoke clears more and more people are realizing that the heroes in this story is the BoR.
