Head Coach Steve Lutz

They did all summer. But against themselves and not better talent…..
I don't mean scrimmages. I mean reps.

Remember Phil Forte? "During the season, he shoots until he makes 500, with 300 of them 3s. In the offseason, the total number of makes rises to 700."

Who is willing to do the work to help this team?

And we literally led the nation in shots put up one month in the summer according to shot tracking technology. To assume they haven’t got the reps in is a bit naive. You have to put that type of work in these days to be a D1 player.

Did shot tracking tell us how many went in?

It's about the number of makes, not attempts.

Go look at shot trackers Instagram from two weeks ago. We were the number team in the nation in fg% makes for the week of Dec 16-20. So yes, we’re making the attempts as well.

To me it’s confidence and roles. Haven’t defined them. Similar to Underwood when a guy missed a shot or two they got yanked. Hard to shoot a 3rd 3 when you have nerves you’re gonna get pulled. This is what it looks like to me. Guys are gun shy to pull the trigger. Avery is the only one and he’s more of a 4 than a 2

Im not argiuing with you, we agree.

They did exactly what you said based on the tracking software. Ill Find the story from Lutz.

That’s what numerous blue bloods have done and are struggling. Eddie was the king of the portal before it existed. JL3, JamesOn, Bobik, Graham twins, McFarlin, Gottlieb. Much of his success was having 22+ yr olds.
Yes on all those except McFarlin. He came straight out of high school.

You can add Brett Robisch, Scott Pierce, and Mario Boggan. I'm sure there are a lot more.

He also was great with the Jucos (Rutherford, Burley, Tony Allen, Hatcher, Montonati, Andre Owens...)

McFarland was kind of like a transfer in a sense though. He was a partial qualifier and redshirted his freshmen year, so he was a bit of a reach as a recruit in that regard.

Meanwhile, Drake is 15-2

Drake currently has the #115 SOS. Their two best wins are Miami and Kansas State, wait a minute, those sound familiar? McCollum would have been a great option and the fact that he could have brought guys, more than 1, with him would have been a huge plus. But if Drake had played Houston, Ou, Nevada, BYU on the road, and Utah on the road, I’m willing to bet they’d have at least a few more losses.

I'm not saying apples to apples. I'm just pointing out that Drake doing very well under McCollum. They are beating teams that are on their level.
