Gundy is out…..

Yeah, he is a pretty consistent embarrassment for the university IMO.

The worst thing is how he will talk crap on anyone who decommits or commits elsewhere. He will stoop as low as he can go. The Israel Antwine saga was the last straw for me with him.
I would not be shocked at all if Gundy gave him the go ahead to break his firing on his show to get it out before the university had all of it's ducks in a row (notifying the staff and players) and was ready to announce.

You can bank on that. He’s used RA like a condom for years & it’s been a mutually beneficial thing for both.

That being said, pretty much every school has their local cheerleader/homer guy. RA’s been tied to Gundy for 40 years. It’ll be interesting to see how he handles the new coach.

I think we should let the basketball coach the football team for a few games since he's not doing anything right now. And we can let the football coach a few games in February. That way they both get cross trained in case one of them gets sick.

That's how we do it Braum's, I get to make the ice cream but sometimes they let me work on the grocery side. It's kind of fun.
Sounds like they may be grooming you for management. Congrats!

RA saying Gundy addressed the team Tuesday after practice. Doesn’t know if it was endorsed by the university, says he hasn’t asked.

The epitome of lazy.

One place where I quarrel with Robert Allen is his assertion that Mike Gundy is Oklahoma State football. That is absolutely untrue. No single person is the program. No one is bigger than the program or the university. The program was here before and will be here long after the coaches. That kind individualistic thinking has gotten extremely well paid college football and basketball coaches in trouble in the past. In my opinion, it also leads to a poorer product when the whole program (including players) is not the most important consideration.

There’s no argument that he’s the winningest coach in OSU history.
There’s also no argument that he was given the most resources in OSU history.

Most of the coaches in the country have been give the most resources in their programs history recently. Its not like we spent the last 20 years competing in an arms race against ourselves.

Lame, I’d expect it out of the Capn, but you ?

Should’ve cut ties in January and now we’ve blown another year. Argue with yourself about that.
What's lame is continuing to beat the dead horse. I guess you'll have to keep on until a new coach is hired for you to dump on.

Ya know what, Robert, fine. I'll humor you and say you're right, Gundy IS Oklahoma State football. Now answer me this...what is Oklahoma State football right now? Right now, OSU football is 670 days removed from a conference win with little hope of breaking that streak in sight. Right now, OSU football is 2 weeks removed from our worst loss in history, and 1 week removed from our first at home loss to Tulsa since the 50's. Right now, OSU football is staring down the barrel of 2 straight bowl-less seasons with little hope as to when we can realistically expect to make one again.

If he alone IS the program, then he alone is answerable to the state of it at all times good or bad. This isn't 2011. It's not 2013. Not even 2021. It's 2025 and the program is in freefall. A huge thank you to Gundy for what he's accomplished in his 2 decades here, nobody can or is trying to strip him of those accolades. But it's well known that arrogance has been a shortcoming of Gundy, and now it's biting him HARD in the behind.

On to the next one. I'm very excited to see what might be coming next. And Robert, if you're not going to be excited in the same fashion or at minimum impartial, then you need to ride that sinking ship to the bottom with your Captain Gundy.

That’s not really true, at all.

You serious Clark? Its not like the billions in tv money the past couple of decades have gone exclusively to Olympic sports. Clemson has a theme park for a locker room and they aren't the only ones.

One of the many negative outcomes of the NIL era is that teams coach up and improve athletes, but then those athletes get a better offer and leave for another program. I like what Brett Bielema has done at Illinois. (Yes, I know they got thrashed by Indiana last week.) He gets the mothers involved. He has events for them and makes them part of the program. The team looks more like family, and his team does not have that many transfers. That's the kind of imaginative thinking that a new coach needs to bring to the reality of today's college football.

We ain't come here to play moms. 😂

It’s been 48 hours versus 9 months, so yeah I’m gonna mention what happened. I’m kinda on the right side of this.

I'll probably get flamed for saying this, but I am going to put this here and see how it ages over time.

I started going to games with my dad when Lewis Field was a street level (late 60's/early 70's). I saw us being a stepping stone for good coaches (Jimmy Johnson, Les Miles, and now Jim Knowles) which resulted in short term successes but no long term consistency. Gundy comes in and we finally have long term success and consistency (granted, the last 3.2 seasons were not consistent).

I think we will become a stepping stone again. If we do find a good coach, he will get hired away and we have to start all over again hiring staff and chasing recruits. Just my $0.02. Flame away.

The fact is, it's really rare for a coach to stay at any school for a long time (10+ years), regardless of budgets, etc... It will likely be even more difficult in the current era, especially for smaller market schools like OSU.

As many have noted, though, if we have people like Les Miles leaving often, it would probably indicate that we're having success, which isn't a bad thing. Do that consistently enough, and it brings in more money and more success. Eventually you may get someone who sticks around for a while.
