Once again, why I no longer identify as an evangelical. The spiritualization of support for Trump makes me want to puke.
I got into an argument with my pastor’s wife in Ohio during the summer of 2016. She posted “God can use Trump despite his flaws.” My counter was, “isn’t that equally true of Hillary, that God can use her despite her flaws?” The answer was no, it is impossible for God to use Hillary. That either makes Hillary very powerful, or God very weak, or both.

I hope God IS using Trump. I don’t see it, but I still hope it’s true. But I hoped the same thing about Biden and Obama.
I think this era will ultimately be remembered as the Trump/Biden years. That is, unless our next presidential candidates are even worse, which given the way things are going is a real possibility.
