By his definition, he is just as much a purveyor of "woke politics" as he accuses others of being.

I prefer to define being woke the traditional way started by blacks. It means waking up to whenever unjust prejudice against blacks is going on. So, the U. S. Supreme Court recently became woke when it struck down Republican-drawn congressional districts in Alabama that civil rights activists say discriminated against black voters.

DeSantis defined “woke” as “a form of cultural Marxism” that’s about “putting merit and achievement behind identity politics, and it’s basically a war on the truth.” Then why not just say you're against cultural Marxism and identity politics? And the war on your truth may only amount to a political war on your opinions.

I think an episode showing DeSantis being tough on Guantanamo Bay prisoners would be a net positive for him.

But I don’t think there is anything more to this story. HBO (Warner Bros) owned the rights first and they stopped and cancelled several pre-made shows to cut license fee costs when their new CEO took over at end of year. Then Vox went bankrupt (like several new media companies). And Paramount announced it is collapsing Showtime into Paramount+ and moving content.
