Deadlam

BTW, in the twitterverse, there is also fodder from the ut community on the conspiracy of refs and Yormark with the rules...I shall call it "Flag-gate"...they believe there is the likelihood of losing the last two games to this conspiracy to keep the whorns out of the ccg
Good - I wish to Buddha that was real. We all know it isn’t but FFS it would be righteous to finish the year and then have that leak.

Here's the thing about those top-10 classes OU is signing: the best of them is still #4 in the SEC. Wait until you get a season in which those three teams ahead of you are on your schedule.
Couple things about that
1. Not all of those 3 ahead of them will have a top 10 class 3 years in a row. uga and alabama sure. but for example, you have florida with a slightly higher 24 class. well their 23 class is 13. their 22 class is 17. So between those 4 only OU, uga and bama have 3 of them in a row.

2. It's unlikely to happen in the same year with how the schedule has laid out. Right now they have the only program on their 24 schedule that's recruiting better than them each of the last 3 cycles is alabama. the only schools in the sec that have out recruited OU each of the last 3 cycles (22, 23, 24) is alabama and uga. meaning OU has out-recruited almost every current sec team save for the two who are outrecruiting everyone else in the country. this puts OU recruiting in good company.

So this will give OU a level of depth they havent seen since the early days of stoops.

So let me get this straight.

SEC is far superior to BIG XII.
AND... OU will be just as successful or more so after their departure from BIG XII to SEC.
AND... BIG XII will be a mid-major next year.
AND... BIG XII is only not a mid-major because OU/UT are still in it.

BUT ALSO... OU has > 2 losses to those "mid-major" conference foes in each of the last 4 years including 6! last year.

GTFO
Generally speaking yes they are superior to the big 12
I didnt say they would be just as successful. But i did say they are recruiting well enough to be.
Big 12 will be a mid major next year. in terms of quality, it's been watered down significantly with the 4 newcomers.
Yes, currently they are not a mid major and have been relevant nationally only because of the OU and texas brands.

Yes, Ou does have 2 losses in the conference.

After your post about the top-10 classes, I looked up the rankings for each year back to 2020. OU’s best class in that period, including this year’s projected class, was not above fourth in the SEC in any year. I included TX.

That’s why the SEC is so tough. A team can be “top-10” but still be fourth in the conference.

When was the last time the big 12 commissioner publicly rooted against one of his own member institutions?

“Coach, I’m not going to put any pressure on you, but I’m going to be in Austin on Thanksgiving. And you better take care of business…”

I did not include texas, I was only including current sec teams. txas always out-recruits OU, almost every year they out-recruit most of the country and that hasnt helped them because they dont develop really well.

uga and bama are the ones to really worry about every year because they recruit and develop at an elite level. aggie, florida, auburn lsu etc they have mediocre seasons sandwiched in between the occasional great one. but uga and bama are consistent.

Yes sec is very tough. a top 10 team can certainly be 4th in a given year. Cant be the best if you dont beat the best. and sec is where the best talent wants to play.

Just wait until recruits figure out your coaches had all that talent and still managed to lose to ku & OSU...
Why leave Calif when they can play at USC & UCLA in the B10 or leave Florida when they can play at FLA, GA, Ole Miss, etc?
The train is comin but y'all keep ignoring the barricades and whistle...uo gonna be a bad viral meme...and soon

They have no clue of the amount of money they don’t have to secure their future. It cracked me up when Reilly was chatting with LSU and one of the local radio hosts could not understand why LSU has enough money to lure a coach away from the u of goon
Both their school, and the athletics department, are in the red. The money they get from the SEC the first couple of years, is going to bring them barely above water to breathe. From there they're just going to tread water if they're going to try and upgrade their situation to try to match bama, LSU, Ole miss, etc..

....To 2 of those schools that will STILL be in this "mid-major" conference next year. Maybe you could look at those conference losses from some previous years. Uh oh, also to some of those "mid-major" schools. I guess they were just good enough to plow y'all because they were fortunate enough to associate with the likes of OU & Texas?
