Right on. but back to my point- can you tell me honestly you get more juice from beating purple kansas than OU?
The response to your simplistic question is Yes.
KSU will be a conference foe, and likepy a stout one, with real implications for base team goals. Win the conference. Make bowl. Make playoff.
uo will be someone else's problem.
Surely this isnt too far over your head?

Cool stuff.

But back to my question- I think it's a fair question and interestingly the only answer i've seen so far is kansas state. Would you say kansas state is your new premier big game? if so, i can see why you wouldnt admit it. who would actually admit they look forward to games vs purple kansas? i know ive always always always ALWAYS looked forward to playing osu and texas. no other teams even come close. not remotely close.
Not, not back to your question.

Your question is inane, condescending, and assumes things that really aren't true.

Who our "big game" will become will depend upon developments from season to season.....same as now. Just because you're always always looked forward to playing OSU and Texas doesn't mean I or any other Cowboy fans are going to be or have been yearning to continue or will be missing playing utn or ut.

Every year, my personal "premier big game"......is the next one my team plays.

I cant give up on the potential of reasonable discourse.

I get every bit as much juice from beating K-State or any other in conference opponent as I do OU....every single year.

Absolutely....no doubt.

Now show you're not really engaging in reasonable discourse by calling that a lie like you have done to others that don't play your games of kowtowing to the supposed glory that is playing ou.

It really makes you think when a supposed OSU fan is agreeing so heartedly and white-knighting one of the biggest, most well-know ou trolls on the board.

The premise that KSU will be remotely similar to uo in terms of rivalries is inherently flawed, because their fans will never be as classless to start. Only TTU has similarly classless fans. I've been to most other Big 12 stadiums as a fan and when I was in the CMB, and I can tell you that nothing is similar to what is experienced in Norman. Its a legit hatred, and it fuels a lot of excitement/revenue.

Also consider that its an in-state rivalry.

Also consider that many of the kids were recruited by both schools.

Also consider that many of the kids at both schools went to HS together.

Also consider that many of the staff, players, and fans have family that attended both schools.

Also consider that the schools are 65 miles apart.

Also consider that it was one of the longest-running rivalries in CFB.

You think "house divided" gear is going to be sold at a similar rate for cross country or wrestling?

You think we'll get a regular season game with similar revenue and viewership in the next 3-5 seasons as what Bedlam typically brings?

The only thing you've said so far is that it doesn't matter, because it doesn't. At least try to support your argument.

Troll? it's a mid major conference and we all know it. That's not a troll job, that's just the reality of things. Without OU or texas, how is the big 12 anything but another mid major? the most historically successfull programs in the new big 12 will be colorado and byu as the only programs with a title. neither of which has seen much success in decades though. besides the occasional decent 10 win season.

It is funny to me though, ive asked this question to many osu fans , both in person and on line and so far none of them have had a good answer. the best answer is kansas state and that's just sad. that's why you should want to keep bedlam. because whether you admit it or not, beating OU feels better than beating anyone else. but instead of exploring this new reality, you just get in your feelings.
Oh my guys, whatever will we do without the UT north being around to save us and make us relevant!!! Shut it all down, cancel all future games, beg them to allow us the opportunity just to be in their airspace so we have some sense of worthiness.

If this is what you think is being stated by anyone in this thread, then you need reading lessons.
If you can't see it you are blind.

Sure thing @Midnight Toker

Dude, this has been discussed at length among our fans for a long time. Many have feared what it does to the conference. You just don't like that Toker is bringing it up currently.

Personally, I think our commissioner did a good job pursuing other programs, and put us in a pretty good spot, and we can make our case for being one of the big dogs. But I can also see how some may be dubious of that belief. Regardless...we'll find out soon enough.

Since it's bedlam @Midnight Toker how will ou stay relevant in a conference where they don't have a lopsided athletic budget compared to everyone in the big12 minus texas? In the SEC they will be 50 million behind several schools and be #7 on the list. That unfair competitive advantage $$$wise. College football is going the way of the rich getting richer and with most of the schools ahead of ou having twice the enrollment it can't look good going forward.

He is literally saying we are toast without ou and texas. You said no one is saying that and I point it out. How can this be a valid response?!?

I think there are two separate things being discussed.
1. Impact of uo and texas leaving the conference
2. Impact of the Bedlam football rivalry ending

I've mostly been discussing Item #2 on the list above given that this thread is titled "Bedlam", and I'm trying to focus on that. I didn't see the previous post that Toker made about the conference impact. I kinda thought this thread was about Bedlam.
