I can say with near 100% certainty that UConn will be joining the Big 12 soon.

Kind of hope we add:

Arizona, ASU, Utah, Colorado, Oregon and Washington.

Not saying it will happen on the last 2 but man we would have a really solid conference.

Divisions are all but a dead concept.

I can tell you through very, very reliable sources that UConn believes it will be an all-sport addition. I can also confirm that one coach in particular had a one-on-one meeting with Yormark recently where he laid out his entire strategic direction for UConn in the Big 12.

This is basically a done deal and further along than is currently being reported. Ball is in Big 12’s court and my guess is they are waiting for the shoe to drop on PAC12 before they make any decisions/announcements.

I should also add that the feeling is mutual between UConn and Yormark as an all-sports addition.

What happened to Arizona and Colorado joining? I thought that was a done deal

I know you’re not asking me directly - but personally I can only report on UConn cause that’s where my connections are.

My guess is they are still the main focus for the Big 12 and Yormark wants to announce UConn, Arizona, and Colorado all at once.

Also, I’ve heard Gonzaga is a near lock for hoops only (obviously).

There seems to be a general feeling of inevitableness from CU folks that this Friday will be the "Open Vote" to join the B12. This is the same Special Session/Open Vote that they had to join the P12. I'll still believe it when I see it, but I'll admit, where there's this much smoke, there's usually some fire. The question will then be which year, and if I had to guess, we're looking at CU joining in 2024-2025. I think there's going to be a tight turn on this move.

I personally think we get Colorado Arizona and Connecticut. Then later get Florida state and maybe North Carolina

I'm starting to lose a little faith in Yormark. He's historically been a basketball guy and has recently made statements about prioritizing basketball. As such, the Uconn smoke is not surprising.

The problem is that basketball is a sinking ship, ratings have been trending down for years in college and the NBA. I have no doubt the Big 12 will be the best basketball conference, but football is the only thing that pays the bills.

In my opinion, all moves should be football focused. I'd love to hear a dissenting opinion but I think that if we take schools over football we'll end up a group of 5 conference in a few years.
