Conference Realignment - What's next?

Im excited about getting them. Plus Utah is really good right now. There are too many good teams in the Big 12 to ignore at this point.

It would be nice to win a 'ship or two over the next three years and get into the playoff.

Those 4 schools are looking for same thing OSU was looking for. Stability.

The PAC is going to either fold or fade soon enough. Adding a school(s) that don’t bring real value to our conference just to try and hasten their demise is dumb, a waste of resources, and will actually hurt the B12. We’re in the catbird seat, why take just anyone to only add numbers?

I don’t think anyone is advocating taking schools that add zero value. The schools being talked about add not only value but also stability and credibility. The Pac 12 going away isn't the primary goal but it is a nice bonus as if the Pac12 and ACC cease to exist (or become lame ducks) it bolsters the Big 12 members’ status and their seats at the table. I’m sure if the ACC begins to crumble there will be schools that, while they may not be heavyweights, will add something to the equation for the B12.

I kinda wonder what Tim Apple thinks of all this…. Did they lowball knowing no one would take it? Just a different perspective.

Jesus H are we gonna go from 12 clear to 20 teams all in the matter of 2 weeks? If 8 ACC schools leave en masse there's no way all 8 are high enough caliber to get B1G and $ec invites, some would have to be looking to us for a landing spot.
That dude is not super credible, IMO. Also, if the SEC goes to 20, we are probably at least back in the conversation.

What Wtf GIF

Is it better to be a top dog in the Big 12 or middle of the pack dog in the SEC? I feel like OU and UT are going to be flush with cash off the field but fade into obscurity on the field. I don’t know if I want to sign up for that.

At least if you are middle of the pack in one of those conferences, you can funnel the money to other sports where there is a chance to win big.

Yeah, but once the SEC gets to 20 teams they'll be lobbying for 6 of the playoff spots, so problem solved.

All things being equal (which I know they aren’t) I’d rather stay in the Big 12. But if the SEC comes calling, you have to go due to the $$$ difference.

Not trying to change the subject exactly but.....who is our biggest Rival now? Baylor? Texas Tech?

We don't really have a rival right now. I hope it is Texas Tech or K State though.

That being said, the reason why Tech is not a rival is because we have kicked their doors in for 15 years straight.
