He was an option against Iowa and likely would have gone (no threat to redshirt) instead of Doucet if the score had been close.

That was my question so I looked him up and he’s a redshirt Junior. But we have a guy in Christian Carroll who was listed as the #1 pound for pound wrestler in the country at any weight class coming out of high school backing him up at heavyweight and redshirting. I’d really like to know if they just made the decision to redshirt Carroll regardless or if Doucet actually beat him out?

They are awarded an advancement point from the bye round if they win the next bout. (0.5 in consolations) So, if Surber wins his next consolatoin bout he gets an advancement 0.5 for that win, plus an advancement 0.5 for the bye, plus whatever bonus points he earned in the actual bout.

Watching, it looked like his knee was bent in a crazy position, but lip reading, it seemed like he thought his collar bone popped out

Have the same thought as you….whatever the case, Williams was not the same after injury but survived
The knee benefited Williams as they called danger for the knee but he had his shoulder driven to the mat just after...a consequence of that ISU guy continuing beyond every whistle.
