2025 off-season thread

Yes, but already WAY less Ks than last year. He was still feast or famine, but this year was a lot more feast.
He struck out 73 times this season, and 83 in the 24 season. He only walked 23 times this season. I need the K/BB ratio to be close to even. I know he’ll have some swing and miss but a little more discipline would jump his average tremendously IMO

I mean he only committed 2 errors all year…so I’m good with his fielding. He made 7 errors the year before so he’s improving in that phase of the game.
That’s a misleading stat for first basemen. The good ones are known for their glove and foot work around the bag digging balls and stretching to get outs and reduce infield throwing errors. Those misses don’t get charged to the 1st baseman. While he did somewhat better in that area in 25, he’s still a long ways from”good”.

We’ll agree to disagree….like I said I’m more than good with his glove. I don’t remember many games where he cost us… He’s a good defensive player IMO. Is he elite…no but he’s more than serviceable for the job. His K/BB ratio is more glaring to me.

On just returners alone and not accounting for any position battles with incoming players, we are set up to have a solid experienced lineup.

C - Ole Miss transfer?
1B - Bruggeman
2B - Thompson/Meola
SS - Ortiz
3B - Meola/Thompson
LF - Conover
CF - Ritchie
RF - Shull

That's a pretty good group to start with and I'm sure some of the incoming recruits will push the returners in some positions for starting positions.
