Guess puking could be beneficial after all the lies we’ve been forced to endure. 🤢🤮

Dangit! You're on to me. Yes, I in fact, actually wrote the article. Take a lap idiot.
Wow. Sorry I hurt your feelings so much that this turned into an ad hominem. I thought you’d appreciate the adulation. If you’re insulted by the article being attributed to you, I’m not sure why you read from that source, let alone post it to the group.

You're going to have to explain some of those big words or he isn't going to know what you are saying.

agreed...but it will probably cancel out when he starts his anti-vax messages...
Yes. Definitely support getting crap out of our food. Not sure why (other than lobbying) we have a bunch of common ingredients that are banned in Europe and elsewhere. But isn't that a regulation and counter to Trump's promises.

What's he going to do when Trump's EPA rolls back environmental protections? Isn't that how RFK jr started?

I'm nervous that he will push to have polio, MMR and other vaccines removed. We already have enough trouble with measles going around periodically due to anti-vaxxers, we don't need to make it worse. Hopefully this doesn't come to pass and he focuses on foods.

I agree that we need to remove a bunch of additives from our foods, but the appeal to other countries banning certain additives is not a good argument in my opinion.

While we should evaluate if certain ingredients need to be added to food, I think what we should really be addressing is how we move away from ultra processed foods to begin with. You have a large portion of the US population stuck in food deserts with their affordable choices being often limited to these types of foods. Removing a couple additives is not going to change the situation that these people are in. It's going to be the same ultra processed options just without Yellow #5.

You can buy a dozen cinnamon rolls for the price of an avocado. Junk food is fast and cheap. Healthy foods take more time and more money to cook.

And don't last on the shelves or in pantries. So people and stores have more food waste which drives up cost even more

If we could get the high fructose corn syrup out of most everything we would be healthier.

Everyone who doesn’t die from viral illnesses will have super immune systems.

Like I said. We are back to running the government like it was the 1890s. All my friends get big jobs and I line my pockets openly.

I gave a talk at a professional conference in 2023. It was something I had agreed to do before becoming a VA employee. I wasn’t being paid for it, it was strictly voluntary. I still had to fill out a crap ton of Office of General Counsel paperwork proving that there wasn’t any conflict of interest. I also had to give a disclaimer at the beginning of the talk that though the topic was related to my work, I was not there in any capacity as a VA representative and that nothing I said should be construed as representing any VA position, and any opinions I gave were my own. And, again, the talk was entirely voluntary, I did not get paid a cent.

And these guys put their business colleagues and employees in cherry positions that could benefit their companies.

I cannot express in strong enough terms how much this pisses me off without getting the ban hammer.

-Get the food industry out of making our nutrition guidelines. Currently 95% of that committee have ties to the food industry. Which is why garbage like "fruity pebbles" is considered nutritious breakfast but steak and eggs less so.
-Ban pharmaceutical ads again.
-Move us away from the idea that all of our chronic illnesses (now with rate above 60%) are fixed with pharmaceuticals. Treating chronic illness is an amazing business plan for pharmaceuticals and that is where the shift in the industry has gone. But, most of these diseases are occurring because of our lifestyles. And, our lifestyles are occurring because of the foods we eat, where we focus our health care dollars, and all of the industries making oodles of money off of our chronic illness and lobbying to keep it that way.
-our academic centers are now contracting/being funded by industry. In the past, when looking at literature you would be weary if it was funded by Nabisco but feel comfortable if it came out of Stanford. Now, it comes out of Stanford based on funding by Nabisco.

Yep, the guy is way out there about a lot of things and I disagree with him. But, hidden in the zaniness, he is very right about how sick we are and how we are not going to fix it as things stand now.

Can't remember his name now but a senator from Oklahoma used to put out an annual report on government waste. Didn't need a whole department.

I fear this new DOGE will be nothing but a dog and pony show. Hope I'm wrong.

Heck there's probably so much low hanging fruit when it comes to government inefficiency that the media could do a story a week and keep busy the next 4 years. Well if we had a media that actually cared about that sort of thing.
Tom Coburn. He was a good man and a true Republican who actually pushed for smaller government. I have no doubt whatsoever in my mind that he would have been branded a RINO if he was still alive because he would never have bowed to Trump.

Markwayne "I promise I'll only run once, whoops just kidding been in the Senate for a decade now that I enjoy power" Mullin is the exact opposite. Mr. Big Government as long as it benefits me and my company. Huge Trump guy. Shocking.
