2024 Presidential Election

Trump calls the press phony and starts complaining about early voting access.

"Look at what's going on in your state every day. They're talking about extending hours and stuff. What, whoever heard of this stuff?"

I take it Trump has heard that he's running behind in the early polling.

Is your confidence in Trump based on the theme that if he loses, it is easier to claim fraud if you were certain you were going to win the whole time?
My confidence in a Trump win is based in my, perhaps naive, belief that people are fed up with the leadership they have been stuck with for 12 of the last 16 years and the fact that Harris is a horrible candidate that her own party doesn’t even want. The Iowa poll is a last ditch effort to convince stupid people that things aren’t as bad as they seem. It’s a joke. Trump will win Iowa by at least 5.

Obama was a very good leader/president...trump was one of the worst all time...biden was meh...but I guess if you/anyone is a conservative, you would think that leadership was only good with a conservative/maga in office...

Come on man, you’re a “White dude for Harris” aren’t ya?
Honestly, I feel like a white dude with no place to go.
I think Harris is a far better person than Trump and that is important to me.
I think there is less risk of destabilizing with Harris which is something I do not want.
I have mentioned things that Trump might do better if he actually does it. But the things I like do not seem high on his list while idiotic things like tariffs and mass-deportation do.

At this point, I'm not overly invested in the situation and just hope it works out no matter who wins.

The mental gymnastics on display is insane. It's really a cult

MARCO RUBIO: There was no unforced error. A comedian made a joke and it was tasteless, but it wasn't Trump who said it.

BRENNAN: At a Trump rally

RUBIO: Yeah, he spoke two hours before Trump

Yep. Based on Nate Silver and Nate Cohn's analysis, these polls showing Harris or Trump further ahead are probably more accurate than those that are herding to +/- 0. Pollsters are trying to not be wrong since they were so far off in 2016, 2020 and 2022 and thus are thumbing the scale.

I heard this as well. Reason behind it is that the polls make a $$ selling their data. Many of them don't want to miss again and tank their stock....so they are fudging the numbers to read more 50/50. Kind of makes them worthless, but they are playing the long game.

A balanced and fair article about the election.

Couple of points from article:
* Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are now tied nationally with just days to go until Election Day, according to the final Yahoo News/YouGov poll of the year.
* If the polls turn out to be accurate, 2024 could be the closest presidential election in modern U.S. history.
* This year, pollsters could be underestimating Trump again, like they did in 2016 and 2020 — or if the adjustments they’ve made since then have overcorrected for prior Trump-era misses, they could be underestimating Harris. Both candidates are just “a normal polling error away from a blowout,” as ABC News recently put it
*

I follow the 538 subreddit, bunch of math/data nerds. They dove into a TIPPs poll of Pennsylvania a few weeks ago and found they literally deleted the entire population of Philadelphia from their results. TIPPs is considered a highly reputable pollster...

Instead, things are bad? Then I gather the thought of paying more at Walmart, due to Trump's tariffs on all imports is the kind of inflation that would turn you on, because it's Trump's inflation not Biden's inflation. It turns me off. Bear in mind that I don't think Trump needs congressional approval to make tariffs. While muttering about tariffs he brought up making them as high as 1000%.

So you prefer Biden and Hillary to Harris?

Inflation was due to a world wide stoppage of production. No body single handily owns that one.

Can you explain what you mean by the bolded sentence? This was an independent poll from a woman who is famously non-political. She's called previous elections for Donald Trump even saying 'I only go where the data takes me."

You're in the bias trap: "if something happens I don't agree with it, it's either incorrect or a ploy against my side." Your implication that the poll is engineered to be against you shows just how removed from reality you are. I really believe that you are incapable of accepting any reality that paints Trump in an even slightly negative light. It's disturbing and quite frankly scary.

That said, will Harris win Iowa? Most likely not. But don't act like it's some Machiavellian scheme against Republicans.
