2023-2024 Portal Thread

I know I'm typically optimistic but we have to be realistic.

A freshman starter from a blue blood program entering the portal is looking to get paid, and a lot. If KState really paid a kid from North Dakota 200k, Green will likely get more than we can afford.

Our sweet spots in the portal are kids from smaller schools who want to play big time football and kids from blue bloods who aren't quite good enough to start where they're at.

Agreed, especially if $$$ is the only criteria. But.... There will be cases that buck that trend, I think. There will be guys that come to OSU for a variety of reasons, and money may not be their sole criteria. It could be moving closer to family, living in a smaller college town, playing time, direct coaching connections, culture, etc....but I'm guessing Gundy and staff will be able to sift through the "applicants" and come up with some gems. Heck....look at how successful some of our random transfers have already been since this all started.

Someone hypothesized this a few seasons ago, but open transfer and NIL may actually benefit a school like OSU more than it hurts us. Who knows if that will remain the case as CFB continues to transform, but for now we seem to be ahead of the curve as it relates to player acquisition.

Hey @stonewallpoke - another positive post above for your records.

That must have been painful. You ok?
Ummm, wut? It wasn't at all painful. Why would you think it was?

Also, why are you responding to a post that wasn't directed at you? Pretty sure someone mentioned that wasn't allowed.

Why are you patting yourself on the back?

Also, why do you feel the need to call someone out in the process of patting yourself on the back?

Oh, I forgot, you are birry, doing birry things.

Carry on....

Again, wut? I'm correcting a false accusation that my posts are largely negative. They aren't, and since y'all continually claim they are, I'm gonna start documenting the ratio so we can have discussions based on facts instead of wild, unsubstantiated conjecture.

Don't like it? Don't make false claims against people. Pretty simple.

Wut?
Nobody made false claims against you.

Don't like it? Don't be an insufferable little puke 90% of the time. Even more simple.
