2023-2024 Portal Thread

The On3 website is wild. Based on their projections 2.5 of the top 7 QB's are going to Miami.

Talked to a K-State fan at the game this year and asked him why Martinez was named the starter over Howard in 2022. He was very adamant that Martinez was a better QB. I disagreed with him and told him that I thought it was horrible news to find out Martinez was hurt and we were going to have to face Howard.

I also think Dillon Gabriel is over-rated, but what do I know.

saw we lost a OL recruit to ASU.

Maybe we need to go offer OU olinemen Cayden Green
They were talking about him on the radio this morning. It was Carey Murdock so grain of salt, but he said the OU NIL collective already had a negotiated offer with him that just needed to be signed. Then apparently he took that offer and is shopping it around. If that is all true, this might not be the type of guy we would want, but who knows.

Personally, I just ready to stop hearing about portal defections and start hearing about portal commitments.

It needs to be modified so that there are contracts and sit out rules, IMO.
At a bare minimum contracts need to be implemented. Full disclosure, I don't know for certain about every school, but I assume these large NIL deals are paid all up-front or in lump sums? Hence stories like the SC receiver or Quinn Ewers signing somewhere to cash a check then bouncing elsewhere for another one?

You wanna get paid like pro athletes? Alright, then hire an agent because with that comes contract negotiations. If you're lucky a portion will be guaranteed. Otherwise your $4mil deal is for 4 years. Leave early? Choose not to play? You lose out on that unpaid money. Might even face fines. Heck I'd take it a step further and make it like a normal person's job. You were hired to perform a certain job to our standard, we will meet quarterly and at seasons end to see how you did. Example: Youre a RB so your base metric is 100 yards per game to receive your bi-weekly check. Bonus pay funding doesn't start until 125 yards per game. Fall short of base metrics and you go onto a PIP or face being cut and again surrender all unpaid money. Dont like it? Seek employment elsewhere. Welcome to the real world kiddo.

We are one of two offensive linemen from Ollie seeing wide open spaces. Might be worth it to add a game changer
