Except apparently at the Kennedy center for Performing Arts where JD Vance was booed upon his appearance. Looks like DEI is alive and well according to Trump’s appointed President to the Kennedy Center.

It’s a nice idea, and Missouri did get the judgment.

I’d like to see proof of these alleged seizures from “Chinese Nationals” based upon the mere fact that they are Chinese nationals. I doubt that has happened because the FSIA authorizes execution of judgments only on sovereign government owned property. It doesn’t authorize seizures and execution of non-governmental entities that just happen to be from the country sued.

If it can proved that the farmland is owned by the Chinese government or a Chinese Government owned or operated entity, then yes….they could be executed on to satisfy a judgment. I doubt that Missouri will be able to establish the necessary connection. Maybe….but doubtful IMO.

Also, the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act is far from obscure. It’s the exclusive and sole statute that allows and defines the circumstance under which a foereign sovereign country can be sued in US Courts.

Fully support removing Chinese ownership from US property (farms or otherwise), either using this approach or other means. But I am pretty strongly anti-Chinese influence and against foreign ownership of US property to a certain point in general. Not sure how the link works for government ownership vs private here and seizures of private land for government "debts". If they are corporate you might be able to link back since the CCP owns companies to a certain extent. But I'm not a lawyer and didn't stay in a holiday inn express last night either so I don't know the legality.

That said, looking at the video below the one you linked specifically. I strongly disagree with him. Signal is approved for coordination and some other work, but it is absolutely NOT approved for classified discussions or even controlled unclassified information (CUI). Any type of discussion of military operations is CUI at the least and in the case of scheduling strikes would have been Secret at the least.

The fact that he was saying this is a nothing burger and it was just a mistake to have the reporter on the group, shows he's probably someone that parrots MAGA talking points, might want to be careful letting him sway your opinion on things.

It sounds like Dodge (Stellantis whatever) is bringing back the Hemi. Not sure America is moving forward with this, but it's a large flag that the auto industry is backing off electric vehicles.

How far does this extend.....I was encouraged by this but I did wonder how this could be carried out. Are there like ownership thresholds type provisions.....like if I am a Chinese national that has funding from a Chinese bank that has ties to the CCP can the govt say it's "owned" by the lein holder that is owned or largely owned by the CCP.....or I worked for or had large contracts with CCP held entities can they say money is fungible and I couldn't afford the land without CCP or CCP held financial institution backing so here we are by proxy type stuff?

I'm not an expert on this area of law, but my understanding is that it applies only to directly owned sovereign state property and sovereign state companies. I would be very surprised if you got there under the circumstances you described.

Yeah, I consider this moving backwards. We need more development and research not just sticking with what we've done. Other options need to be developed (both manufacture, support and infrastructure) so they are truely viable for more people in this country.

The green movement for energy is dying everywhere. It wasn't based in logic or fact. I've been beating this drum here for years....if we want to go renewable for electricity get ready for $1000 electric bills after the trillions needed are spent AND outages....if we want to go electric cars we have to change the way the charging is done. Bill Gates.....noted climate change champion recently said we cannot install renewables fast enough to support tech advances, duh, anyone and I mean anyone in the sector could have told you that. It's ironic a tech giant couldn't see that coming. Stable power cannot be weather dependent.....full stop. It has been and will always be that way. We have wasted 20 years of R&D chasing the wind....literally. Power was made by coal...then more efficient gas boilers....then gas turbines....then combined cycle gas turbine facilities (these did more to remove carbon emissions than anything and it's not close)....then we went green and threw insane amounts of money and tech and everyone chased the money.....now we are going back to simple cycle gas turbines (and if you want to buy one of any size good luck getting it delivered by 2029) because the renewables that have been built aren't going anywhere so we will produce the next wave of electrical demands EV/AI/Data/Crypto with less efficient higher polluting 40 year old tech (it's been upgraded but not anywhere near as efficient as combined cycle). The largest frame gas turbine currently available is being installed in Chouteau as we speak.....in order to control the emissions they have to cool the exhaust by blowing in ambient air with massive fans. Just the fans for this consume around +/-20MW of load depending on the conditions that day. That's enough to do 10K-20K homes (again depending on the weather) wasted to control the heat created that is also being wasted. That heat could be put through a heat recovery steam generator and produce about another 250 MW.....or enough for 125k-250K homes or all of Payne county.....just wasted due to renewables as you can't build combined cycles anymore due to the additional capital required and loss of operational flexibility. 270 MW of wasted energy for the same gas burn.....progress. The green movement was almost entirely lies.

On the bright side Gates says energy experts are one of the AI proof professions so get ready to clean my robots boys!!!!

Just curious. What do you think should be done to combat climate change, or do you disagree that it is influenced by human emissions? How do we get there from here or is it a doesn't matter?

Human Emissions have influence. I think if you score 1-10 on influence with (1) being natural evolution of climate and nothing to be concerned about and (10) the world ends in five years, we are probably sitting at a 4. It's an issue, but people are raking in $$$$ over exploiting it so it's presented as even a bigger issue.

I believe we are all under one roof and only global change will have an impact.
