US continues to go backward...

He's being held without bond for "reckless driving" and it's been less than 24 hours.
Probably a sure bet that there will be more charges coming once the DA gets to it. No reason to rush & risk F-ing it up, he ain't going anywhere for the weekend.

'Spending like drunken sailors': Kristi Noem risks criminal charges over ICE being $1 BILLION over budget and likely in violation of the Antideficency Act

Immigration and Customs Enforcement could “run out of money by next month,” according to a report from Axios.

The outlet reports the agency is “already $1 billion over budget” as it carries out multiple raids across the country. Axios' lawmaker sources said the Department of Homeland Security, which is in charge of ICE, could be violating “U.S. law if it continues to spend at its current pace.”

“Trump's DHS is spending like drunken sailors," Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) told the outlet.

He later added, “They are spending likely in the neighborhood of a billion dollars more at ICE than we authorized, and that's patently illegal.”

Axios sources claim the overspending is a violation of the Antideficiency Act. The Government Accountability Office says the act “prohibits federal agencies from obligating or expending federal funds in advance or in excess of an appropriation, and from accepting voluntary services.”

Any agency head who violates the act could face criminal charges.

Democrats are not the only ones concerned about DHS and ICE over spending, "We're watching what goes on [with budget talks in the Senate],” Congressman Mark Amodei (R-NV) told Axios, "because if there's much of a hiccup in that, those concerns are all capital 'C' concerns."

"I have a feeling they're going to grant themselves an exception apportionment, use the life and safety exception, and just keep burning money," a former federal budget official told Axios.

The outlet has previously reported, “DHS recently shifted around almost $500 million” to help pay for ICE operations. Despite this, they are still in need of a significant amount of money. Axios reported in March, DHS has asked for “at least $2 billion more to meet the agency's needs by the end of September.”

In a statement, DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told Axios, "President Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill' is critical to ensure we have the funding to secure our homeland for generations and deliver on the American people's mandate for safety and security.”

He probably feels pretty confident about getting a pardon. Trump has already shown he will pardon people who commit political violence on his behalf

Somebody needs to tell Duffy they are not required to cooperate with Federal Immigration enforcement per the SCOTUS, he is threatening holding funding hostage if they don't cooperate with a law they are not legally bound to do....

Sean Duffy to withhold transportation funds from cities with anti-ICE protests

In a Monday post on X, Duffy responded to President Donald Trump's call for ICE agents to target cities led by Democrats.

"The @USDOT will NOT fund rogue state actors who refuse to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement," Duffy wrote. "And to cities that stand by while rioters destroy transportation infrastructure — don't expect a red cent from DOT, either. Follow the law, or forfeit the funding."

Speaking at the G7 on Monday, Trump doubled down on his threat.

"Most of those people are in the cities. All blue cities, Democrat-run cities. And they think they're going to use them to vote. It's not gonna happen," he said.

It would be cool if it were the states protesting, but it isn’t, it’s citizens. This will be struck down in court in 3… 2… 1…

Certainly not very many.

Closest in the house are Massie and Roy. Guess someone could argue Burchett.

In Senate, Paul… others could argue maybe Johnson and Hawley.

I don't think Johnson and Hawley count. They are more say something but do what we are told. Can't knock them for it as there are about 90 like them but nothing about their votes scream fiscal conservative.

An Afghan man who worked as a translator for the U.S. military during the war was detained by ICE after showing up for a hearing inside of a federal courthouse in San Diego, his attorney says. The man fears that if he returns to Afghanistan, he would be tortured or even killed, @NBCSanDiego reports.
